Fullmetal Alchemist DVD news
FUNimation have announced that their forthcoming DVD release of Fullmetal Alchemist will be four episodes per discs, which is 13 discs overall and is around the $29.98 price. Well, that's fantastic news - there is a god after all! I was absolutely dreading that it would be three episodes per disc. I'm glad that FUNI listened to the fans in this case.

EDIT: Disc 1 is out on January 18th! *starts saving pennies*

They'll probably be the same average UK price, £19.99 or cheaper through Amazon or Sendit. *sighs* I think I'm going to import the R1's though, mainly because of the metal boxes they apparently come with (three overall I think), and of course FUNI tend to release their series one disc a month. And DVDPacific is incredibly cheap.

4 a disc for a 51 episode series... *scratches head, sighs* I guess it could be worse, but -- oi. 13 DVDs. Maybe they'll be really nice and bump it up to 5 or somethin'. C'mon, they did 5/6 a DVD with Fruits Basket!
Edeverlasting_day on September 5th, 2004 07:08 am (UTC)
The Fruits Basket thing was an experiment, apparently. A load of idiots actually, believe it or not complained about the added episodes meaning a higher disc price, and they haven't done it again since, which is a shame. I think due to licensing costs and whatnot Funi couldn't afford to put any more episodes per disc than four.

4 Episodes sounds just about right. Hopefully they'll kick in some bonus items like the Japanese disks have to further warrant the price tag. Even if it's something cheesy like the post cards that come with the "Last EXILE" discs.

... Ugh... I don't wanna even think of the cost it'll be over here ><;;

Actually, I'm kinda disappointed about that, because this will mean Episode 4 will also be on the first DVD, ending an otherwise excellent first disc with a low point. I would have preferred it be the first episode of the second DVD...

But the second disc will be full of Hughes goodness!

(And will thus be one of the discs I buy. *cough*)

Oh, thank God. 16 disks, as was originally planned, is just WAY too much. <3!

$29.98? Oh........ T.T What will it cost in Canada? 40$? 50$? I'm not good at things like that, but anime is so expensive... Oh, I shouldn't complain. I'll just have to find a job or something ^^''' I'm so lazy...

But Yay! More episodes!

I would love it if the American dubbing companies paid attention to the fact that there is a big anime fanbase in Canada and that they should bloody sell the DVDs here according to original price and NOT currency values. (Or at least acknowledge that there are ALOT of anime fans in Canada)

The DVDs (if our dollar is going to still be hovering near the 80 cents mark) will be a BEAUTIFUL 38.94$ CDN without tax. =D

People are now complaining about ONLY 4 episodes a disk? I guess I'm just too used to my 3. But I'm not complaining! Saving my moneyz now for legit disks... XD

4 per disk sounds better than 3 to me. I don't mind it costing a little more if the episodes are getting released faster.

Will the FUNi DVD's include Japanese audio with subtitles??
Edeverlasting_day on September 5th, 2004 11:45 am (UTC)
Absolutely! I wouldn't be buying them otherwise.

Hmm, that's weird. What source did you read this from? I was set on it being a [16 disc] release. [But I like your version much better!] XD
Edeverlasting_day on September 5th, 2004 11:54 am (UTC)
I didn't hear about the 16 disc release - I got my info from animeondvd.com which was released yesterday. Lance Heiskell confirmed it in the forums.
