Rewatching Ep. 31, I think I may have found Moofy's real name (Well, the name of who he was made from, anyway.) When Izumi sees the baby moving and then sees it's not human, she says "Aoya...!" Which, since it was left untranslated to anything, I assume is the baby's name. Either that or I'm way off base here and babbling nonsense.

(The sub spelled it Aoya, but it's pronounced more like "Aoi-ya". If that makes sense.)

lol Moofy... that nickname for Wrath is still new to me.

dang it, I don't have episode 31 on this computer... I have 32 and everything else, but 31, nope. -_-;

I can't say anything about it anymore... I was going to say "maybe that's the way she screams or something," lol. Lame, I know. -_-;

Yeah, but she's not screaming, she's just kind of... Saying it. In shock. (And XD Moofy! I was around when someone first came up with that, but now I don't know who it was... It's actually a bit scary how long I've been in this fandom. Since episode 8 came out, anyway. I remember waiting impatiently for the other half of the 11-12 (Or was it 10-11?) episodes. Good old Russel and Fletcher.)

She says "Boya" which is Engrish for "Boy". The Japanese mis-use the word "boy" in their speach XD;. Izumi says uses it like she's saying "my baby boy...". Once in a while you'll see younger male characters refered to as "boya" when the character speaking to them doesn't know their name. I think Psiren called Ed "boya" a few times.

"Boya" because of their accent, lol. My mom says my name with the "-ya" in the end. It's quite annoying.

Btw, no, I'm not Japanese. ^^; I'm Taiwanese, but I think the accent carries out thru most of Asia. XD

lol yeah, it's an accent, not Engrish... my bad (up too late dammit!). The Japanese linguistic tongue doesn't let them say "boy" comfortably. "Boya" rolls off the tongue way better.

Ah yeah, and in one of the recent episodes Lust calls Ed "Hagane no 'Boya'" as well... sorry, dunno why I remembered that. Maybe cause she's so damned sexy when she speaks. ::dies::

It actually isnt Engrish,it's a Japanese word. The ”bou” is kanji and the ”ya” is hiragana, like this:

So um, yeah, its not an English word being "misused" ^_^*

What does bouya mean, then? Pretty much the same thing?
bloody mary on the rocksjunemermaid on August 29th, 2004 01:14 am (UTC)
Yeah, it still means 'young boy' in a less proper way

Okay, so it's the second explanation, I'm babbling nonsense. But you'd think the sub would translate that... Oh well. And here I thought I'd found something interesting. -_-
