Edward closed his eyes and tilted his head up, allowing the hot water from the shower to come directly down on his face. It felt so good. He would be enjoying it more if he was alone. Behind the shower curtain, standing rather awkwardly, was Fury. It was embarrassing that he wasn’t allowed to shower alone. The small man had bumbled his way through the explanation as to why he couldn’t stand outside the door. It was clear that no one had any faith in his ability to stay standing for longer than ten minutes at any given time.

Ed growled at himself as he grabbed a bottle of shampoo. Yes, he felt like shit, but he wasn’t a wuss. He wasn’t going to faint. Half an hour ago he almost had, but that was beside the point. He’s obviously pushed himself too far with whatever the hell he did at headquarters and using alchemy so soon had not agreed with him. But after food and water he was bouncing back quickly. His fever was even gone! So surely that had done the trick. Though he clearly didn’t think that stupid shake counted as food. Hawkeye had promised him an actual breakfast if he could drink another bottle of that shake stuff and keep it down for an hour once he got out of the shower. Then if he was hungry, the kitchens would make him anything he wanted to eat.

Edward was already compiling a list. He wanted bacon. Lots of bacon. Pancakes with lots of butter. Maybe even an omelette as well with a side of sausages. He was famished. Obviously he hadn’t really eaten since the attack. Plus a full stomach would make him feel so much better. Help him get his strength back quickly. Unlike in hospitals where they didn’t know what real food meant. It normally tasted like transmuted cardboard.

“Umm...” Came a small voice from behind the curtain. “Are you alright in there?”

“I’m fine,” Ed sighed. “I’ll be out in a minute.”

He wanted to snap and snarl at Fury. He wanted to hit the next person who asked him if he was okay. He was fine! He was up and walking around wasn’t he? It was frustrating and annoying having everyone look at him like he might collapse at any moment. But he couldn’t do that to Fury. The man had always been so nice to him. He was just so easy to talk to. Ed didn’t want to take that and throw it away right now. If it had been Mustang, he would have had no need to restrain himself. He would have bitten the man’s head right off. Even if he had been nice and supportive this morning. It was kind of weird actually. Ed just wanted things to go back to normal.

Reluctant to leave the comfortable spray of warm water, Ed turned off the taps. Taking hold of his long hair he began to wring it out. Ed stepped closer to where his towel was hanging up on a rack. As he moved to take hold of the towel he suddenly slipped. His metal foot lost traction on the slippery tiles causing him to lose his balance. It was a small slip which resulted in an attempt to destroy one of Armstrong’s bathrooms.

Ed automatically reached out to grab the shower curtain to stabilize himself, but it came away from the rings connecting to the railing under his weight. As a result he went down and his automail elbow banged into the glass of the shower as he fell. The glass shattered under the impact of the blow, sending shards of glass everywhere. Kain was there in a moment, trying to see if he was alright.

“Sir?” Fury shouted in surprise. “Are you-“

“Yes!” Ed snapped. “I’m fine!”

There was an awkward moment as Ed yanked his elbow back through the glass and sat up. He was growling, annoyed with himself. He opened his mouth to demand a towel in order to cover himself when he saw Kain’s face. The guy looked like someone had just kicked a puppy or something.

“Kain...” He said quietly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap-“

“It’s alright,” Fury was quick to interrupt. “I understand.”

“No,” Ed leaned back against the wall of the shower. “It’s not alright.”

He was glaring at the broken glass.

“It happens occasionally,” he said, carefully removing some of the tiny glass shards stuck in his leg flesh leg and in his side. “Keeping balance on wet tiles while having one foot that can’t actually grip the floor without sliding around isn’t easy.”

Edward clapped his hands to fix the mess when Kain suddenly grabbed his hands and kept them together. The young alchemist frowned at this.

“Sorry, sir.” Kain smiled at him a little. “Hawkeye’s orders. No alchemy from you for now.”

“But-“ Ed protested, upset at the mess he had made of the bathroom.

“But nothing,” Kain said, carefully taking hold of one of Ed’s arms. “It can be fixed easily. Just maybe not by you right now. I’m sure the Major will understand.”

As Kain carefully helped Ed up a loud knock was at the door.

“Is everything alright in there?” Came Havoc’s voice through the door.

“We’re fine,” Kain assured him. “Maybe you could get the Major though? We might need a little repair job in here.”

“Boss?” Havoc sounded sceptical.

It was only natural after all. If a repair job was needed then there was a good chance that someone might be hurt.

“We’re fine,” He echoed Fury as he grabbed the towel. “Do we have any cloths for me? Beyond a pair of boxers and undershirt?”

“Hawkeye will find something,” Havoc said before they heard footsteps leaving.

Carefully Ed stepped away from the shards. He’d been luck it was just his automail. Otherwise he might have more than a few scratches. Though maybe it wouldn’t have gone through the glass and he could have just slipped over. Kain stayed at his side, making sure to look somewhere other than at Ed while the boy dried and dressed himself.

Hawkeye had brought him some black slacks and a dress shirt that were only slightly too big for him. Thankfully it didn’t seem to be anything from Armstrong’s wardrobe.  The larger man’s cloths would have made him feel silly considering the size comparison. It wouldn’t have helped Ed’s foul mood at all.

Fury tried guiding him back to the bedroom, but Edward wasn’t having any of that. He went downstairs and found the living room. Hawkeye had been heading upstairs with his shake, but he was quick to intercept. It wouldn’t be lasting long as the rate he was downing it. Everyone was trying to get him back upstairs, but he took a seat on the couch. He wasn’t ready to go back to bed. Yes he was tired, but he also wanted that real breakfast. Though he paused halfway through his shake when he noticed everyone who came in the room was wearing their uniform. Before they had not bothered with the blue coats, but now?

“What’s going on guys?” He asked them.

“Nothing, Boss,” Havoc said, obviously lying. “Maybe it would be better for you if went back upstairs?”

“Good idea-“ Hawkeye started.

“What?” Ed cut her off. “Why?”

“Because it would be in your best interest,” Mustang said smoothly as he entered the room.

Everything clicked Ed saw Mustang all dressed up for a normal day at the office. Even the eye patch was back in place.

“You bastards!” Ed shot up from the couch. “You’re trying to leave me behind.”

[Kain] looked like someone had just kicked a puppy or something. Nobody does the kicked puppy thing quite like Kain does. Makes you wonder how someone so tender-hearted ever made it in the military. :/

Pancakes with lots of butter. Maybe even an omelette as well Stop! You're making me hungry! ^_^

“Maybe you could get the Major though? We might need a little repair job in here.” Oh jeez. Suddenly I'm seeing a free standing tub with little Alexes for the feet instead of the usual ball and claw! Cannot unsee! :D

“Do we have any [clothes] for me? Beyond a pair of boxers and undershirt?” But Ed! However shall I ogle you if you're all dressed up? ^_~

Everything clicked [when] Ed saw Mustang all dressed up for a normal day at the office. Even the eye patch was back in place. “You bastards!” Ed shot up from the couch. “You’re trying to leave me behind[!]” Ah, so near and yet so far. :) Nice try guys. Good luck getting out of the house without Ed now! :)

It does, but he is also a specialist with the electronics stuff. So it could have been a trainee ship or something. It would be interesting to know more about him.

Sorry. I was really hungry too while writing it. :P

Oh dear god no!! It can not be unseen!!! I'm surprised more of the manor wouldn't be like that. XD

Hehehe I know. How dare Ed desire to cover up!

They need all the luck they can get. :P

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I love hearing from you. :)
