Btw, does Alex Louis report to Roy or is he an ally under someone else's command? As military guys I can't see either of them acting upon attractions to people (either gender) in their direct chain of report. You don't have him doing that here, which is another thing that gains you points in my view of your writing. (That and $3 might get you plain coffee at Starbucks).

Demoralizing as such barriers are in real life, in fiction, unfulfilled love is more interesting to read about as a story than affection that suffers no barriers to its expression.

Nothing kills dramatic tension in a story faster than someone saying "I love you."

Mmm, I think it depends on the characters. I'm having a lot of fun writing post-108 Ed/Winry. :D
