I know this has been asked before, but I went serching and couldn't find the link so, does anyone have a good, large picture of the snake/cross symbol? (edit for clarity, sometimes I forget people can't read minds ^_~ ) like the one on the back of Ed's coat. I'm playing with t-shirts... ^_^

And, as a random point of interest, I stumbled across this a while ago on dictionary.com

ho·mun·cu·lus
-A diminutive human.
-A miniature, fully formed individual believed by adherents of the early biological theory of preformation to be present in the sperm cell.

Not quite sure if that connects to the show, but it's neat nonetheless ^_^

This has nothing to do with your post... sorry... but I couldn't help but notice your current music. And I have to ask, what is it? Cause I know who Mark Hildreth is. *is curious*

ah ha! my plan has succeeded! (was hoping someone would recognize the name so I could spread the word ^_~ )
Yes the voice actor also sings ^_^
Just click on the music link at his site

and maybe we can pray for English image songs ^_~

Well, considering that the anime is already licensed by ADV, all the fansubbers have taken down their torrents. I'm not sure where you can find the anime anymore (besides the Chinese bootlegs on eBay). I do have the entire series. And if you want it really bad, e-mail me at: gundamnook@aol.com and maybe we can work out a trade for the series. I would have to send it to you via snail mail since I'm not sure how to send files via AIM. ^^

If there is, I really want it!! I haven't seen an artbook out yet, other then the TV animation guides that are out. Probably once PMK hits the US, there might be one available. *is hopeful* ^^

It should also be noted for the purposes of history, that an alchemist named "Hohenheim"(sp?) did actually exist. He also claimed he created Homunculus as well. ^_~ If I am not mistaken.

Auroleus Phillipus Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim to be precise :P

>_>;;...most people call him Paracelsus.

Yeah, he was a real person who studied alchemy -- mostly homunculi. He is supposedly the only person who ever succeeded at creating and keeping one alive for a significant amount of time (several others supposedly created them, but they died after a few hours or so...)

Nicholas Flamel is also the alchemist that supposedly created the Philosopher's Stone in real life. In his writings the FMA symbol (a crucified serpent with a winged crown) comes up.

Fun fun.

You know, for a while my parents kept insisting that Anime was a waste of time, then stuff like this comes up and they wonder where I learned it ^_~

Heh heh, I know the feeling. I always used to have a larger than average vocabulary and nearly won several spelling bees in grade school because I played so many RPGs when I was young.

And I can assure you that I wouldn't know half as much as I do about mythology and such now if it wasn't for symbolism in anime and video games motivating me to research the stuff. ^^;

I know there's been a reply to the flamel image, but if you need it larger than that--
