(art) Sweeny loves FMA, and Ouroboros
Ouroboros:

I signed up for this group on flickr where you take 1 photo of 1 object every day for 365 days. Already FMA has been in two of them and it's only been a month!

Day 3 we got this artcard from sis and Sween was immediately drawn to the evilness:

Day 11 Sween wanted to try on my Ouroboros necklace:

That's Sweeny.

We don't know his origins. He just sort of came to me, while I was cleaning out my mother's room, behind her dresser. lol

No idea. It's just his body:

Maybe it's a onesy? It has a zipper in the back:

you just linked me to a site about robert the doll. ;) i hadn't heard of him until now but i'm looking up more info. fascinating.

he has some fuzz to him, so i think he was once kind of furry. the skull in that pic is from a javelina wild pig, they can be nasty critters. they LOOK small and cute until you get attacked by one. all teeth and muscle and quick as lightening. they become good friends after they wrestled a bit.

what i really want is an Envy doll to pose with Sween.

What... what is that.. doll thing?

That's terrifying!

The ouroborus is awesome, though! And my friend has the same art card; it's absolutely gorgeous.

It's cute.. in an incredibly disturbing way.

Those eyes look like they're looking right into my soul.

they don't look into your soul, they TAKE.

AIEEE.

For some reason, that kewpie doll brings back frightful childhood memories.
Grygongrygon on May 16th, 2010 12:46 am (UTC)
It's not a kewpie, I've checked into that. Similar, but not.

For instance, this is the only Kuddle Kewpie by Knickerbocker design that I can find and as you can see there are some noticable differences:
http://collectdolls.about.com/od/antiquedolls1800s1920s/ig/Kewpie-Price-Guide/Kuddle-Kewpie--Close-Up.htm
For one, the paint jobs, and two - the neck, mine lacks the insignia/collar area. Also, the knickerbocker kuddle kewpie has square feet where mine has toes. The knickerbocker also has a different body shape and, as far as I know, no pocket/zipper in it's back like mine.

BUT yes, so far it's the closest ID I've seen. It just doesn't match 100% so I'm still looking.

If I remember correctly, my one-year-younger-than-me cousin had one of those as a child. Or there was one at my grandmother's house. Whichever. The thing made me nervous.

It very well might be Kewpie, like I said that's the closest ID so far. And maybe someone took the doll apart and remade it WITH zipper. My mom had a stroke back in October so she can't remember much but that someone gave her the doll to redo some 20years ago and she doesn't think it's Kewpie.

I think the one my cousin (or grandma) had came from a fair. It had coarse plush, like fair stuffed animals did back in the day.
