I'm not so sure.... We've seen that the first anime has very similar threads to what the manga actually ends up being even though the two were very different. Like Roy losing his sight wasn't a shock to me because he'd lost it in the first anime. Another example is in the first anime Al sacrifices himself to give Ed his body back and look at what happened in this chapter. If you look back there are several examples like that. That is what makes me afraid of the last chapter. I remember very well what happened to Ed in the first anime and I do not want that to happen again!!!! And Truth asking "What do you think he'll sacrifice" just leads my mind to very bad places:(

Yeah. In one of the extras in the volume/tankobon Arakawa did say she revealed the ending to the animators of the first anime, so they did have some basis.

I really, really, really hope that Arakawa doesn't do the whole "Amestris is connected to ~our world~" route. Not that it wasn't cool idea and all from the first anime, but for some reason the world she's created fits just perfectly fine as itself. plus I don't want to really think of the movie as close to canon, but then again I am biased

I agree! I don't want them in our world, I want them in theirs!! I don't think she's going to go that route though. It would be have to be a very rushed explanation if she did. I think that the first anime just did it to explain where the alchemy was coming from, where as in the manga we had the whole "Alchemy comes from the earth and Father has been blocking its true power" explanation.

I also remember that extra where she said she had told them ending. That's why I've kept referring back to the first anime to see if there are similarities and right now, that's what's making me so very afraid for Ed. I so don't want him to have to die to get Al back! He needs to live! I hope she goes the route of having HoHo sacrifice himself for Al. I love his character too but I love Ed more! ACK! The anticipation is going to KILL ME!
