FMA's Irie Confirms Animating Manga's End in 2 Months
"Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood director Yasuhiro Irie has confirmed on his Twitter account on Thursday that original manga creator Hiromu Arakawa has planned out the final manga installment, and that his staff is writing and storyboarding the material for the anime based on that ending. He added that he was shocked by the enormity of the final chapter and noted that there are only two months left."

-From Anime News Network.

The suspense is killing me wondering how this is all going to end in two months and what the final chapter is like.

I'm quite pleased that it's all going to be tied up nicely, and it sounds like Arakawa-sensei is going to give us a big mindblowing finale. ♥

At the same time, though, there's going to be a huge hole in my life once FMA is over; it's been running since 2001 and it's part of the bedrock of my life. Other series came and went, but FMA was just the best thing ever. *respectful silence*

... it's been running since 2001 and it's part of the bedrock of my life.

Ahh I feel the same way. ;_; There's gonna be a huge void in my life after the series ends.

Wow, for some reason this is like a huge deal and I'm not even someone who's been following it since the beginning yet I feel as though life will be different when it's over...I know that's sad but, yeah, I just hope the finale is happy! ♥ ♥ ♥

The phrasing of part of the twitter thing makes me think the last chapter is going to be LONG. I'm hoping that gives us enough time to wrap everything up with father and give everyone a proper send off.

I read this news and I was like "D8...". So shocking, indeed. I still can't get used to the idea that the ending is almost here. It's been so long, and it will be so hard to see FMA gone...

As everybody else, I'm hoping for a mindblowing ending, of course.

But in all seriousness, holy fuck how does she expect to end this in two chapters?

Could there be any chance that Irie meant that they would finish animating in two months but that the last episode wouldn't air before the end of the manga, a few months (more than two! D:) from now?
Could there?

Noooooooooooooo!!

But seriously, I don't know what I'm gonna do without new fma chapters to look forward to every month.

And I'm REALLY hoping the ending is satisfying. I mean, I trust Arakawa to create an amazing ending, but I'm still nervous.

Two chapters left. Holy crap... Feels like the end of an era.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

But on a side note, this woman is genius. She doesn't do the Inuyasha thing, or the Naruto thing. She has her plot. She controls it masterfully. She isn't afraid of ending it.

It's a story, not a big sprawling... whatever. XD

I trust her with this thing. *__*

I agree. I mean, do I wish this series could go on for a while longer? Hell yeah, I do. But her story is very dense, she packs in a lot of information in relatively short chapters. When I was working on my term paper for World Religions - "Alchemy Through Various World Religions" - I was amazed by how much of the actual alchemic theory she had right in her story. It's obvious the women did a shitload of research, but it seems like the vast majority of the fandom in the past was too busy squeeing over ZOMG ED KAWAII DESUUU to really pay attention to how great the story was.

I mean, I loved Naruto in the past, and a part of me still does. But it's going on way too fucking long, and I haven't read it in six months because I have no clue what's going on or where he's going with this goddamn series. Inu-Yasha? Well... let's just say I read up to volume sixteen and then it felt like two minutes later I saw there were, like, 40 or something. Fuck that D:

T__________T I don't want it to end!!!
Fma was essentially the driving force that tossed me into the anime craze, the fandom world, and the many attempts of trying to write and draw. ): Even though I know that Arakawa can deliver a beautiful ending in two months time easily, I still don't want it to end.. ;_; ♥

Excuse me while I sulk in my corner. ;_;
Russia's greatest love machine: NEUROSESrandom_prophet on May 6th, 2010 08:34 pm (UTC)
I bet the final chapter will take up, like, half of the entire magazine. That would be sweet.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it ending, honestly. On one hand, oh god what will I read other than maybe Vinland Saga every month!? I'LL PROBABLY GO INTO WITHDRAWAL OR SOMETHING. On the other hand, it means that there are no more excruciating waits to figure out what's going on, and it also means that FMA isn't going to wear out its welcome by being stretched out for an absurd amount of time like some other manga I can name off the top of my head.

Still, I'll miss it. I hope Arakawa takes a well-deserved break before moving on to her next project, although I have a feeling she's going to finish up Hero Tale before that, since I think that was put on hiatus so she could finish up FMA.

...speaking of Hero Tale WE COULD ALWAYS MOVE ON TO THAT, GUYS, ALTHOUGH idk it seems like that one's supposed to finish up shortly after it finishes its hiatus.
Pheonee: a sorry sightpheonee on May 7th, 2010 08:21 am (UTC)
Dear lord, I tried to read Hero Tales once...it's not written by her, and it's freakin' obvious. Nowhere NEAR as fuckawesome as FMA is.

Her oneshot Souten no Koumori (see: icon) was pretty awesome, though.
