Someone else on the live discussion post put it best:

"I should probably be finding it sad, but damn... all this Greed abuse is just hot."

I'll leave it at that. 8D

dear GOD the pacing of this show is fast. it's finally at the point where I'm going to have to actually start watching the eps subbed since I never read the manga.

also gg Greed, you lasted nearly 2 whole episodes!

They missed all the Bradley/Izumi/Sig/Armstrong set up, which is disappointing...and unusual considering recent manga chapters.

And they really highlighted the gore and horror of the Devil's Nest massacre.

And Al's trauma *hugs Al* was played well.

Disappointed over the lack of crucifix, but they did get the rest of the mood of that scene correct.

Next week is going to be amazing.

That is where this anime REALLY starts!!!

as far as I'm concerned, next week is when FMA: Brotherhood really starts. :D

The preview. ♥

But damn, if they rush the next arc I will choke a bitch.

That's been my biggest complaint about the whole thing--we've been watching it on fast forward, it seems. I guessed that they would flash through the materials that were touched on by FMA Classic--but now we're going into Mangaverse--I do NOT want them to just tear through at breakneck pace.

Wooooow. That was almost panel for panel to the chapter, too (except the Izumi bit.)
"Fubuki," or maybe "Shiro"shiroandfubuki on July 5th, 2009 08:49 am (UTC)
I'm actually glad they rushed the first half.

Now, now. Please put the tomatoes down. ^^;

Rather, I'm happy they spent as much time as they did in this episode setting things up: the scene with Selim, for example, seems almost trivial now, but sets things up nicely. :) They can easily place the stare/handshake thing next episode, or even do something when they get to the Sloth fights way later on.

The scene with Izumi was strange, but necessary (I think). God, Bradley was being evil. :X

So, things truly begin next week - with, according to the preview, the fight against the Xing crew and Scar's fight. Brotherhood is truly starting in a week, guys! :D I look forward to the AWESOME. ^______^

I do believe that the arc was epic, but I'm not content with how they handled it. Rushed? Very much so. A bunch of my favorite scenes were altered, became unfunny, and were completely skipped.

It's good that the anime is now where the real story begins, but I'm scared that it's still being completely rushed. Like the thing with Riza in the city. Doesn't that happen about seven chapters later after we meet the Xingese?

Honestly, I think Father sounds more like a Grandfather. Well, he is like four-hundred years old or something like that.

No, that part should have happened during this episode actually. In the manga it's between Al telling Ed that he saw that and Greed being boiled. Looks like they're doing quite a bit of rearranging.

I had to reread the manga for that. And yeah. My mistake on that. @_@

I loved this episode. The pacing was perfect, IMO. And so far, I like the pacing of the overall story. It's neat how they rearrange events so that it doesn't become predictable, and they seem to change one thing every episode. This time it was Bradley talking to Izumi, which works for me because they took out the confrontation in the store. It is a little sad to not have the muscle bonding between Sig and Armstrong, but they might end up adding that later as a flashback. (The fact that they had Armstrong talking to Ed at the store makes me think it's likely).

From a storytelling POV, it makes sense to trim out Ed's trip to the south HQ. (I liked how they tied Roy into it--I was wondering how Bradley would show up). It was to only bring in Bradley and Armstrong, and animating it would use up time they could spend on more important plot points. Instead of that, they put up wanted posters of Greed in an earlier episode and made Bradley's trip seem like he got a tip and followed it to Dublith. Different, but the same result.

I loved that they put in Al remembering about reaching out to Ed from the body they made, but not telling him about it. It adds more tension (the audience and Al knows something Ed doesn't), and shows that Al does tend to keep things bothering him close to the vest, as he did when Barry had him questioning whether he was real.

I am sooo excited for next week's episode, I can hardly wait! :)

I liked how they tied Roy into it

This was my favorite part of the entire episode. I had to immediately watch it over again when it was finished. It was so utterly Roy: march, 2, 3, 4 - SMIRK. Haha! Perfect. And it was even cooler because we weren't expecting to see Roy, so it was just pure fanservice. Thank you, ma'am, I'll have another...! ^___^

This episode was something different for me. As with some other people, I've gone into Brotherhood with only having watched the first anime interpretation and not having read the manga (which now i think I may do)I am aware the story differs a lot and I was probably in the minority at being shocked that Bradley was Wrath and not Pride (maybe because I liked Wrath in the last one *shrugs* ) Anywho, it was a great episode and I'm looking forward to seeing what'll be for me,new material, I think I may just have to read the manga to get a feel for how closely this series sticks to it =]

I'll come up with more coherent things to say later (I JUST got to watching it. D:) but AWESOME.

Brotherhood, maybe you can redeem yourself.
