Yeah. And if we're already there now (in episode 7) then I say Hughes will meet his fate by episode 11 - 12 at the latest.

And that is when I think things will slow down since that was really when things really started to diverge drastically between the first anime and the manga.

And I'm not judging this episode until I can actually watch it. The lag was horrible.

That was FAST.

I kinda wish this HAD been the Lab 5 episode, because I'm stupid and forgot about this chapter of the manga I just wanted Envy to show up again. Because we don't have him in the manga anymore... sue me, I liked him.

But Sheskaaaaaaa~ ♥

it was amusing to see characters speak with others' voices...

...other than that streaming was so bad that i couldn't catch hardly anything. if i hadn't read the manga/seen the original, i wouldn't know what the hell was going on

I do believe that Saki up there in your icon sums up my expression while watching. Perfectly.

So... Ed became the Red Powerranger and Al the Blue one. Interesting plottwist.

I'm gonna have to wait for the subs, but right now I can say this - ENOUGH WITH THE VISUAL GAGS, GUYS.

I mean, christ, sure this chapter did have a few funny visual gags in it, but these were exaggerated way too much. Sheshka acted like she dropped out of a silly shoujo anime, while Armstrong's hilarious scenes had their thunder stolen amid all the other gags. It's more than possible to do a gag without going nuts over it - the part where Ed and Al were going "No no no of course we won't go to Lab 5!" was funny without being too over-the-top.

Arakawa eventually dialled back the gags as the manga got darker; I hope the production crew will do the same.

Well most of these gags were taken directly from the manga. Personally I really enjoyed them.

Maybe it's been already pointed out and I'm lame for missing it, but... did somebody else notice the change in the opening? o3o;

Also, I'm pretty sure they spent half the budget in Armstrong. Sparkly awesomeness! XD

the stream was too awful to catch anything in the opening...or the rest of the episode T___T

though im sure someone will catch whatever it was now that the raws are out

the quality issues in this ep really really bothered me (am i the only one?) Based on the preview, next weeks ep looks like it has better quality...i hope so, at least -_-;

Me too! Even the backgrounds, which are usually so wonderful, went crapsville.

Okay, so overall this episode was...nothing special. The animation was really awkward a lot of the time, and the gag humor (which, yes, was taken from the manga) just doesn't work as well in anime form. Like when giant!Sheska talks for half a minute before the animation goes back to normal. That was really jarring.

Again, Al's dialogue is shafted. He's so two-dimensional that it's making me sad. Sure, he says some nice things to Sheska, but it all seems so...hollow. It's not even that he's different from the first anime's Alphonse - it's that he's a main character with the depth of a side character. I'm seriously having trouble getting a feel for his voice and personality, and it's already seven episodes in. :/

Maria Ross's voice is way too girly, IMO.

But hey, the pacing was fine, and the voice acting was good as usual. Let's hope that next week the animation quality picks up again.

I think I'm the only one here that really liked this episode in comparison to the one before it. Much better pacing and much more comedy as fma should be. The animation could have used a bit more work but still plenty ok. So all in all I give this episode a 8.5/10.

Actually, I'm seconding you. Sure, there were a *lot* of gags, but - other than being drafted from the manga - I think they wanted to have light-heartedness before things go darker. ^^; I greatly enjoyed the moments like Hughes' visit and such...

I like what they've done to Lab 5 scenery too: creepier than first time around (less Indiana!Ed moment).
