CM for the new anime!!!!!!!11
Excuse my excitement, but OMFG:

I hiiighly recommend watching it in HD.

EDIT: For people wondering what is being said in the trailer...
"To get back what we've lost, we'll keep moving forward! Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Fullmetal Alchemist!" And what time/channel it'll be airing on. The text at the end says "Is what lies on this palm hope or despair?"

Well I agree with those who said the manga is better than the anime (and soon the 'anime' will be on par with the manga if it follows it exactly), and this is because of the in depth storyline (for me anyway). But everyone is entitled to like/dislike what they want; so if you dislike Arakawa's art style, then you dislike it and no one can force you to enjoy it.

i think i might've liked the manga better if no one had told me about it before hand. it just felt like such a major disappointment, after loving the anime so much and hearing all this hype about how much better the manga was and then i read it and thought it was mediocre at best. but, what can you do?

Well to be honest, I tend to look between the lines of what is actually written, thus I found more enjoyment in the manga than the original anime (the characters in the original anime were more 2D in the sense that they weren't as developed as the manga ones, so I find the manga to be extremely better overall). But like I said, everyone is entitled to their own options of what they think qualifies as good or bad, and because everyone's options differ, no two people are going to think exactly the same thing about something, no matter what it is.

I will agree that hype can often times kill something instead of helping it, which is what happened with you. A little hype is ok, cause it gets the word out about whatever it is that is being hyped over and can often times help it grow, but a LOT of hype can often lead to a lot of disappointment because your expectations are way too high, and every little thing can be a great big let down.

i do agree that the characters in the manga are more developed for the most part (i really don't tihnk the manga handled the sins well. at all). but for me that really wasn't very important or helpful since i didn't like the way they ended up being developed. i just didn't care for the characters in the manga the way i did in the anime, despite them being more developed.

but i think what bothers me the most about this new animu being manga based is the fact that the animu does have it's own legion of fans, some of whom haven't read the manga, and some of whom have and still did like the animu better. they must have done something right in the eyes of those fans. and it feels like such a slap in the face that BONES is doing this because it's like they're saying, "yeah we screwed up the first time" and they didn't.

Same.

And although it closely follows her style, when animated with color it just doesn't look right to me DX But perhaps I am so used to seeing "Ed" as he is in the anime, I never followed the manga closely. It's actually a bit of a chore to sit through the animation. Perhaps when I start reading the manga again I'll get used to it.

Until then Ed's face looks like a potato DX
