Hello, I've been an FMA fan for awhile now but I just found this community today. ^_^ Thought I'd pop in and say hello. Quick cosplay question:
Does anyone here know if those buttons on the front of Ed's red jacket are functional, or just decoration? When he takes it off I can't tell if there are buttons on his black under-jacket, since the buttons are black, but it seems like the coat couldn't stay on that way unless the buttons DID work... O_o Anyone know?

if there's one thing that my trench coat wearing has taught me

its that they sit irritatingly close to the shape of your body (damn lack of dramatic winds)

so i don't think he ever does them up

I don't know the use for the buttons, but they are definitely not attached to the black shirt he wears, they're only attached to the red jacket. O.o No idea why.

I don't recall him ever closing the red jacket...o_O; I made my black jacket with a belt buckle so that it snaps and stays together.

I'm basically avoiding buttons...I think they're hardly noticable and a pain. From my cosplay experience, when making costumes you just have to be creative. As long as you have the basics and people can reconize who your are, then you're fine ^^; If there are noticable buttons I'd just glue them on for show XD

Hey! You finally joined the community... I thought you were already a part of it... I wold have told you about it before.

Maybe the buttons are functional, but I don't think he is ever going to use them. For a cosplay, you don't need to make the buttons work if it isn't vital to the costume.

Well, just from what I have seen, no one has put the buttons on their costume. I know I didn't =P

Good luck!
