Pairing: RoyxEd, mentioned AlxRiza
Author's Note: Days 2-4: Trance, Baby, and Funeral
It was just a day after Roy had asked Ed to marry him, but Ed couldn't help but still be entranced by the man and the way that man had asked. It seemed so silly for Roy to do all that running around business, but Ed couldn't help but think it was cute and romantic at the same time.
Roy snapped his fingers a few times in front of his lover's face and Ed looked up sharply. "You still look like you're in a hypnotic trance, Edward."
"Sorry..." He muttered, kicking his feet as he sat on the edge of their bed. "I'm just still amazed that you wanna get married..."
"Why? We've been together for almost five years?" Roy asked, wrapping his arms around Ed's broad shoulders as he crawled up from behind him. "Is there a reason I shouldn't wanna marry someone so amazing?"
Ed blushed darkly as he continued to stare at his feet as they kicked, still in his trance, "It's just that...it's hazardous, right? With you still being in the military and all."
"I don't care anymore Ed." Roy stated calmly, "I love you. You love me. You aren't my subordinate anymore, you're an adult. Just because we're both men, doesn't mean they can kick me out. That's not enough reason. There'd be a riot."
"If you say so..." Ed trailed off.
On the second day after Roy had proposed to Ed, he started to doubt. Even though they'd been together almost five years, it was still hard sometimes for Ed to not doubt. He was a well-oiled guilt machine, and everyone knew it.
"I'm not going to want one!" Roy growled, trying to make Ed see reason.
"But what if you change your mind? How do you know what you'll want in ten years? I sure don't!" Ed snapped back.
"Who wants something that eats and shits and cries all the time?" Roy demanded, getting a bit red in the face.
"I don't know! Maes wanted Elysia! Obviously your parents wanted one. My parents had two!" Ed reasoned out rather unreasonably.
"Edward...please, I don't want a baby. I don't want a woman. I want you. Just you. What's so hard to understand about that?"
"Nothing...I just, I want what's best for you, ya know?"
"I know." Roy said, giving Ed a soft kiss, "But this is what I want, okay?"
On the fourth day after Roy's strange question, Ed had a nightmare. It wasn't uncommon for him or Roy anymore. They both had gone through awful things. That morning Ed dreamed of a funeral.
It was bright and sunny out, which was odd considering that they were at a funeral. It made Ed angry, because a funeral should be sad and should be mournful, not happy as the sun decided that day should be! It was worse because everyone was crying. Ed didn't know how to handle it when people cried. Alphonse and Riza were sitting quietly, crying and holding tightly to each other. Ed didn't know who could've died that would've upset them so.
Then Ed noticed who wasn't at the funeral. Roy. Where was the man he was going to marry? Getting frantic, Ed rushed through the people, now feeling as though something bad had happened to Roy.
That's when Ed realized he didn't know who's funeral this was. When he approached the coffin slowly and looked down. There was his lover's face, white and peaceful, looking almost as if he were asleep.
Ed woke screaming, only to be calmed down when Roy arose and proved to him that he was indeed still alive and not planning on dying anytime soon.
