Places to Post Fanfiction
Having been out of the fanfiction loop for a couple years, I'm wondering what are some good places to post and find fanfiction besides Livejournal? I used to post on FFN about 8 years ago, but, given the state of affairs there now, I'm a little hesitant to go back. There's always AFF, but I only have one R-rated story to my name (though I'm quite fond of it).

Any thoughts or suggestions, especially from people who do post at FFN and AFF?

Thanks! I'll have to look into submitting there. I really like the fact that they have a review process.

I'm kind of the new het editor there (Haven't had much time to do much, I will start on much after the con) so if it's het I can help you. If it's not, well, you have to talk to the others.

There's a place a friend of mine helps out with called Fic Haven that could use more FMA fics over at fichaven.org. It's a small place but anywhere is better than FFN right now. Also, there's good old Mediaminer.org where said friend and I tend to hang around most of the time. You'd be more likely to get readers there and unless something goes terribly wrong there they haven't had any major issues with the main site in almost four years.

Scimitarsmile is more a source for reading fanfiction. I don't know what their posting policies are, but they have some of the better fma fics out there.

Ooo, thanks! For some reason I've never hit up Scimitarsmile for reading material. *happy fangirl squeal* Yay for fanfiction!

Ficwad is a great place for reading and posting---the environment is fabulous---and it could use more of both. ^^

(I love your icon.)

Ooo, I took a look around Ficwad and signed up right away. I like the looks of it so far (The majority of the synopses are readable! That excites me.) and am looking forward to adding more pieces there. Thanks for the recommendation!

Jumpy Boys is primarily an archive for Shonen Jump series, but they also take FMA fanfiction of all ratings.

I would also suggest www.mediaminer.org

I would go ahead and post on ff.net. However, I don't think it's the best place to become a 'part of the community' or find fic that you actually want to read. Granted, there are some excellent writers hiding out in ff.net, but they're hard to come by. No harm in posting your own fics there, though.

As for reading fic, the above commenters have already listed most places. I own a filter-like website for good fics I find on ff.net, though I haven't actually updated in months.

In all honesty, FMA's fandom centre in on LJ. Outside of it, there's not too much. (And if you do find something that you really enjoy, like SS or TKKN, it's pretty much an extension of the LJ comms, anyway.)

My main qualm with posting on FFN is that I've heard a lot of stories about unreasonable deletions (especially fanbrats who 'retaliate' against people who give them honest/poor reviews by getting their accounts deleted) and general unkindness to authors by the website staff.

While it certainly doesn't hurt for me to post fiction there, I'm hesitant to do it based on that alone. I dislike places where authors are treated badly.

oh, go ahead and post it one fanfiction.net.

I keep posting my stuff there just to get flamed - they're so dang funny there, I laugh my ass off everythime.

honestly though, not many good places other than LJ to post your stories anymore (which sucks cause i honestly dislike LJ). Ficwad and mediaminer get very few reviews due to less traffic and they both still get the flamers.
