Green Lion Contest Results are up
In case anyone's interested, the results of this year's Green Lion fanfiction contest, sponsored by Scimitar Smile, are available this morning -- both the juried contests and the readers' poll. You can find said results here. The results also lift the veil of anonymity from all the contest entries, so if you were wondering who wrote what, you need wonder no longer. (I made several right guesses, one wrong one and had one clean miss myself. Anyone else?)

The only ones that I knew a mile away were your's and hieronymousb's. All of the other's (except my own X3) had me completely baffled. Congratulations on your win, darling. ♥ You deserved it.

I nailed yours and cornerofmadness's on grounds of previously-seen content (is that cheating?) and hieronymousb's on grounds of style. I missed domlandbubbles's entry for some reason -- I think the formatting confused me; it sounds very like her now. Ah, well.

Congratulations on your win, too! Theory of Immortality has a lot going for it -- I can see why it impressed so many readers.

Not cheating at all. :3 Just being...resourceful. ;D And thank you so much. ^__^ It means a lot coming from you.

Hey, congratulations!

I couldn't guess for any of the entries.

And yeah, if it's present tense, close third-person limited, with short paragraphs, it's probably me.

Yours was the easiest to guess. XD Very much your style. I also guessed yixshAnd I kinda sorta knew the premise of hieronymousb's already, so I suppose I didn't actually 'guess' on that one.</small>

I thought Invitation Accepted might be tobu_ishi's, but obviously I was very far off the mark! :P

Okay, this gives me courage to say that I thought Ad Noctem might be tobu_ishi's, but that was pretty far off the mark, too. You win some, you lose some. :-)

The judges wanted to strip off my Author's Note completely as being too revealing, but I argued it back on the grounds that most people who could would have guessed mine was mine by the end of the third paragraph. I think I have one of the most prominent foreign-language fetishes in this fandom.

Well, I knew yours, and I knew yixsh's due to having seen the other parts of the fic on FFN. I wasn't even familiar with any of these other authors before, except for domlandbubbles, whom I've seen a little of here and there. But I wouldn't have known her style well enough to pick it out amongst a crowd.

Oh, and I also knew kalliel's because she'd told me what it was beforehand, but I would've guessed it even if she hadn't. The crying Winry in the beginning gave her away!
The Magdalen Writingnebroadwe on November 7th, 2006 06:09 pm (UTC)
Makes mental note: crying Winry == kalliel. :-)

XD Well, I only know that because she told me Winry always cries in her fics. I wouldn't have noticed this pattern on my own. >_>

I only got a chance to read four of the entries before the results were announced, but I guessed three correctly (although one was based on parts I'd read on FF.net, so...^^;). Faces in Ice threw me for a loop, however; I've only read one of kalliel's fics before this, so that might just be a matter of not being more familiar with her style.

A note of congrats to all the winners! :D It was fun seeing new material from some of the "older hands," and I love how a good number of first-timers were brought out of the woodworks (I found a lot to like about your entry, yixsh!). And with that in mind, maybe, just maybe I'll work up the nerve to enter something of my own in time for next year... :D;;;
