Big FMA happenings there!

NDK Special Announcement on Full Metal Alchemist CosPlay

Hey, it's your cheerful pest Becca from NDK - This hasn’t gone up on the NDK site yet because I wanted to give you a particular heads up related to all the awesome work you do! We just confirmed Seiji Mizushima, Director of Full Metal Alchemist and the FMA movie (also DaiGuard, Generator Gawl, and Shaman King), for NDK this year. Mr. Mizushima has told friends that he was using this year as a time to recharge his “creative batteries.” His year is almost up – and it looks like NDK will be the last convention he can make it to for a while because he has a new project with MADHOUSE.

So – in the interest of making sure Mr. Mizushima’s creative battery is completely charged up, we would like to do something special for Mr. Mizushima and also for you! Because he loves cosplayers of FMA, we would like to set up a special meet and greet photo shoot where FMA cosplayers can have their pictures taken together with Mr. Mizushima and be able to speak directly with him. NOT one of those horrible “take your picture for $5 and you’re not allowed to talk” cynical things, but a relaxed time to really enjoy being together with someone who loves anime and FMA maybe even more than you, *grin*.

If this sounds good to you, post back here or, even better, email me at programming@ndkdenver.org and I will keep you updated on all plans for the gathering! Positive ideas for logistics and general cheerful chat are welcome. I am going to work to nail down the best time and place this month so that we know what day we're doing what and you have more time to plan - opinions here welcome too from any participant. ^_^

We love anime, we love fans, and we love cosplayers, so we hope this is a welcome announcement. We’ll announce Mr. Mizushima on the NDK site probably tomorrow – along with another special Japanese guest! We will post more about his appearance as we get closer to con. ^_^

I know some of you have seen Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala in theaters and I am sure you are anxiously awaiting the DVD release on the 19th. Well, apparently they have a special edition of the movie coming out in November and our friends from Madhouse have decided to premiere it at NDK. I wonder if we will need a big red carpet, lines of limos, very expensive clothes and a slew of paparazzi? Eh, maybe not.

I wonder how there can be more scenes...unless the version they're premiering is in Japanese maybe? Hm, very itneresting, but sounds fun : D

I'm also wondering, but it's worth checking out and seeing whether buying the DVD would be worth it...

I've seen the original Japanese theatrical version and the original special edition Japanese DVD version. There are no more scenes to the movie unless the version that they released in theatres here in the U.S. WAS chopped up somehow. The version that they showed at AX sure wasn't, so I don't know how there can be "added scenes." Maybe they mean they're playing some of the interviews that are being included with the special edition?

I asked the question basically stating that and everybody seems to be avoiding the answer. ¬¬
