Is it just me, or is IGN making up this info off a comment saying "We'd like to pick it up." like the BAAF accident with One Piece?

It seems very odd that Funimation would announce an anime liscense at E3. o_o; Why not wait two more months and announce at the big one? Anime Expo?

I'm just confused.

I tend to agree. In less than a month there is A-kon, a con that rivals Otakon or AX in size, and is in Funi's hometown, and soon after it is AX. One would think that Funi would announce such a large title then. Also, FMA is done by SquareEnix, and ADV has traditionally been the distrobution company to bring SE's anime stateside. Lastly, when I was at the Funi booth at Anime Boston, I asked them if they were thinking about getting FMA, and their quote was "Well, that would be nice, but..." And that's all they said, so I'm thinking that perhaps it's a title that ADV and the other distros are fighting Funi for.

plus ACen is this weekend, and I do plan to attend all the news panels since most like ADV, FUNi and a few others will be there. Of course it might be quicker to check Anime News Network, since I usually check there for news... ^-^

True, true. I'm pretty sure that IGN is misinterpreting statements. It wouldn't be the first time.

i think it's square giving funimation the rights to fullmetal alchemist at E3...that would make more sense ._.

Exactly. With the game tie in, E3 would be the place to do it. Game's been licenced, right? Square might be pushing to get word out about the series to benifit from cross-promotion. On top of that, a licence is a commodity. If Funimation just sits around with it, they're not making any money off of it.
