Ed's weight / DVD 1 text insert
Every bio for Ed has his height in it, but I had a tough time finding any info on his weight. Wikipedia says that fans estimate his weight around 175 pounds due to the automail though.

So help me out, and if there's a site/previous thread that can answer this then feel free to show me the link. :) How much would Ed weigh without the automail (and had regular limbs)? I'd estimate 95/100 and that's only because I weigh 85 at 5' (but I am female and don't work out). Would Ed's automail really weigh a gathered sum of 75 (actually, even more if you first subtract the weight he lost of his regular limbs)?

I can't imagine carrying that much extra weight around with me all the time... that's 2 to 3 times the weight a pregnant woman carries around isn't it?

I imagine my own estimates are off though, so please let me know. It's for a RPG thread and general curiousity. ;)

I ordered DVD1 off ebay and am a bit... irked. They didn't include the text insert booklet that all the other dvds came with (and so far haven't answered my inquiries as to why). Does anyone have it scanned somewhere?

Ah, finally a reply that I can wrap my mind around... yes, what you say makes sense. Especially about the anatomy of the metal. Like a bird's bones in a way.

Thanks, this makes more sense to me now. I just couldn't fathom where someone told Wiki that Ed weighed around 175. True he's in shape, but he's not 175 pounds of muscle. I just can't see 175 pounds when I look at him. O.o

I had to go and compare this to Wolverine, who at 5'3" weighs 195...

My brother is a muscular 5'6" and 130lbs, so I don't see being male as packing THAT many more pounds on you than being female -- expecially if you aren't fat. Ed's got abs of steel and strong arms, but he's not one of these waddling body builders. He looks quite normal in ordinary street clothes.

Wolverine on the other hand... he's a bit freaky-shaped. But the so are ALL the X-men. American comics tend to draw all the characters as rediculously muscle bound.

It does get to be annoying. Sure the bodies we painted on these shiney papers for you are nice to look at but that left us only $3 to pay our writers. ;)

And why do they need all that muscle? Wolverine doesn't need it, he'll heal right up no matter his size. All Cyclops does is jog there, shoot a beam, jog here, shoot a beam. They must get winded lugging around all that muscle. Gambit at least jumps, flies, and zips around like a monkey on crack, and he's one of the slimmest main characters.

Reminding myself of one of the minor reasons of why I dumped Marvel. Sorry for the rant. ;)
