This was x-posted to my own journal, mother and fm_alchemist

These are just too friggen close to the truth. It's un-canny. No spoilers, by the way ^_~

Your First Name of: Maes
The name of Maes has made you serious-minded, responsible, and stable. You love the security of a home and family, you are fond of children, and, as a parent you would be fair and understanding. Although you have good business judgment, you are not aggressive in your dealings because you do not like to create issues. You would be successful in any position dealing with the public as you have a diplomatic and tactful manner and possess a charming, easy-going nature which puts people at ease. People are drawn to you because they feel that you are patient, kind, understanding, and responsive.

...so..frikken..freakily TRUE.

Your First Name of: Frank
Your first name of Frank has given you a quick, analytical mind. You are creative, versatile, and imaginative. However, independence, positivity and the urge for action and progress are such strong forces in your nature that you find it difficult to control them. You feel happy as long as headway is being made, but as soon as you are obstructed or your individuality and freedom of action are restricted, you experience an intense nervous reaction. Moods of depression can result during which you become sarcastic and stubborn in your attitude toward everyone, especially to those in closest association with you.

Y'know, what I judge from Frank(archer) so far... that seems like him.

Your First Name of: Alphonse
Your name of Alphonse creates a very expressive, versatile, and spontaneous nature. You are happiest when you are associating with people and participating in activities with others. Your name gives you a desire to sing, dance, and have a good time. This name makes you very idealistic, emotional, and temperamental, liking to do things on the spur-of-the-moment and disliking being repressed or held down to monotonous detail.

Damnwell close enough! @_@

Your First Name of: Edward
Your name of Edward gives you self-assurance, independence, and confidence. You have depth of mind and the ability to concentrate and to follow a line of thought to a logical conclusion. Your love of challenging the concepts of others invariably leads you to create your own ideas and to pioneer new lines of thought. Your strong characteristic of individuality qualifies you as a leader. You must be independent and you do not brook interference in any way. Although you do not tolerate interference in your own affairs, this characteristic does not prevent you from interfering in the affairs of others.

Right on the money! O_O

Makes ya wonder if Arakawa-sama used that site...

It seems to work DESPITE your intentions...

I ran some of the character names from a story I'd written through that site's analyzer, and despite the fact that I hadn't thought about name meanings in the least (just whatever 'sounded good') they all came out dead-on for the characters' personalities.

It works for real people, too, but I find the fictional characters more interesting, since it's not like they actually exist to be "shaped by the numerological resonance of their name" or whatever the explanation is that they give on that site.

Perhaps it's a Jungian collective unconscious thing. -_-

For what you showed here, probably the guy really did a research about the names and personalities.

Hey, it made me remember...do you know what the exact word in Japanese to 'FullMetal' (and, if possible, for Mustang title as an alchemist too)? I'd like to use in a fanfic, but I really don't know...

Most of the names in FMA, that I've seen, are very carefully chosen. For example, Hohenheim is part of the name of the famous alchemist Paracelsus. Many people are familiar (and it has been discussed on this community) with the WWII ties to most of the military names. Ed's name may be a reference to Edward Kelly, an alchemist and necromancer who claimed to have discovered the Philosopher's Stone. If the author was doing alchemic/occult research, he may also have come across the name "Alphonse Constant", the original name of Eliphas Lévi. These are, of course, aside from the actual meanings of the names, which tend to synch up, anyway. I did a bunch of name research one day when I was bored...I'll have to see if I can't find it and post it here. ^_^
