If you leeched from Anime-Keep on IRC, I hope you don't mind helping me with a

The sound on my file is working but the video isn't showing! Has anyone else had this problem? The odd thing is, I have d/led the file completely twice from two different sources and it was odd both times.

Oh, and I'm trying to play the file on Windows Media Player.

Thank you for your help!

Codecs up to date? Not corrupted?

Even with the codecs, Windows Media Player is being a total huffy diva. *pout*

Have you had this problem before? It just sounds like you may need a special video codec.

Lots of people have been getting this problem. Some solved it by getting the divX codex. Others switched to using VLC. It plays everything. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

OMG, THANK YOU!!!! VLC is working for me!

I'm normally not this excitable, but I'd tried everything and was about to just cry. I can't thank you enough!

::spits on vlc player:: i hate that thing. ::spits on windows media player also::
i dont think redownloading the divx codec would do anything there since the Xvid codec was used (if it shows up all greeny than get the latest ffdshow)
since xvid is open source, there are a few different versions of it, the best thing to do would have been to ask in the chanel what codec the encoder used, so you could get the exact one you need.

Another good program...
I use the Crystal Player and I've NEVER had a problem. You can download it from:

Hey, at least your video isn't upside down. o_O *had that happen to episode 25* >_
goat_sangoat_san on May 3rd, 2004 11:16 am (UTC)
thre is a codec that causes that problem because some video player accidently played every video upside down, so they used that to reverse it (something like that). I remember that codec being in the nimo codec pack, which gives me another time to explain

Yeah, it wouldn't open for me in RealPlayer, so I used BSPlayer.

(As a bonus, BSPlayer also has a really easy way to take screenshots.)

Oh, and your icon rocks.

::wont even go into real player::
but yeah, bs player is what i use, and that screen cap program is a curse. (looks up his 400+ screen caps he has from just 16+)
i really should do something with those one of these days
