FMA Movie Sequel?
Okay, someone once told me they were making a second FMA movie.  Now, I have scoured the web a lot, and I have yet to find anything official, or even markedly believeable about this, so I was wondering if anyone out there has had better luck.  I found a lot of forum people talking about how they'd "heard" a rumor, but there was never any evidence at all to back it up.

Likewise, is there anything vaguely official, or contained in an interview which says the series/movies has "officially" ended?  (As in: there are no certain plans to continue it?)

Thanks for your help!

There's nothing official. You know how easily rumors are started. Anyway,...what could a second film accomplish for the series that the first one didn't? Anything more would be fanservice, and I hope no one would profane such an awesome series that way.

I don't know, but there are still loose ends they COULD choose to tie up (Winry being one), but I'd certainly hope if they DID do such a thing, that the director is inspired to do it because he has a great concept, and not _simply_ as fan-service.

And mind you, I'm THRILLED there was even a first movie to begin with. I was really bothered by the end of 51, because it didn't feel "complete." And I liked that the movie was "complete" (although, imperfect, as is custom), but it really felt like the ending was also purposefully molded so there COULD be a sequel, and part of my brain still wants to know one way or another if that's even a possibility.

I'd think the director, himself, might have answered this somewhere in an interview, but I've had no luck finding any such thing. Perhaps at AnimeExpo someone will ask him...

The director said in an interview with Adult Swim not too long ago that he isn't working on anymore Fullmetal Alchemist.

On TV, online, or where did you see the interview? The Adult Swim website doesn't appear to have anything on it that I can find. :-/

Thanks for your help!

It was on the AS website, probably in their archives by now. I saw it when it was first on the front page, so I don't know where it's gone on the site now.

No luck in the archives as of yet, but I did find an interview where he said _he_ didn't plan on doing anymore FMA< but that since hte manage is still going, there is a "possibility" of something relating to that (which, I would assume he means he would not be a thte helm of).

Wow, horrible spelling for me!

He said he dind't plan on directing anymore FMA, but that since the manga is still going, there is a "possibility" of something relating to that (which, I would assume he means he would not be a the helm of).

It would take longer, but maybe they were thinking of redoing the series like they are with Hellsing to go a little bit more with the manga...at least I think that's what they are doing, haven't read any mangas yet.

Redoing the series to match the manga? That would be a big job since it changed direction around episode 25 of the anime and would have to introduce a few new characters. I don't think that's likely but who knows?

An FMA movie with the manga characters would be cool xD Ling and Xiao Mei and all the crazy stuff like Envy and Father xDDD

WOOT that would BE AWESOME!

This would not happen : Arakawa said she wanted a different line for the tv show. So it was, so it will never be something else xD

But a second movie.... hm, that's would be hard for one thing : the OVA kodomo-hen is kinda like a conclusion to the movie. Hard to make another movie after this...

how different is it? I've heard a few differences, I really should get around to reading it, it would probably make the series longer if they did do that though.

Damn that would only make me turn into a puddle of squee if that happened.

But, yeah, unlikely. It's too bad -- I'd absolutely LOVE to see Father and Ling and all them animated.

many of us, mind you, were NOT happy with the movie. true we didn't like the way the series ended as well, but the movie just made it worse. in mine, and others, opinion.

i hope it stays ended.

if you've seen the 3 OVAs, especially the 1 called Kids, i bet it does stay ended. IMO, "Kids" gave us a nice, extremely short wrap-up look at the future... and some closure that fine, the movie sucked but it all turned out okay afterall.
