Kelas (Let's Dance)
First time posting here and I'm not sure if someone has posted something about this yet (I've checked a little ways back in the archives and memories). Anyways, I've been looking for the lyrics (and possible translation) to "Kelas (Let's Dance)" from the FMA movie. I can't seem to find the lyrics anywhere, and heck, I dunno what language it's in.

I just want to be able to do karaoke to it in my room while I'm procrastinating from homework. T_T;

Anywho, any info on the song or lyrics would be great.

Thanks!

I too, have been searching, and I haven't found any slightest hint of useful information yet.

Sorry, I can't be of help, but I would also like to know if somebody finds a transliteration.

I think it might be indonesian but it might be their gypsy language.....romanian? I think that's what they spoke...I'm not entirely sure XP

That's what I was thinking...something indian. I dunno. But it's a very pretty song, no?

Wikipedia knows all :P
The "language" of the Roma people is Romani (they're not related to the Romanians or Romans and their respective languages in any way). And usually this is mixed with the language of where ever it is they're living.

But damn, I wish I knew what the lyrics were too.

Re: Wikipedia knows all :P
It's also called Romanes, if that's helpful.

To the OP, there are no printed lyrics for this song, so unless we get a Roma in here who likes FMA and wouldn't mind transcribing it for us, I guess we'll never know what they are. If it helps, in the movie program, the composer mentions that the song is about how things can go from sad to happy in an instant, and the word "Kelas" itself means "Let's dance."

You should look up stuff about Romanes. It's really quite fascinating.

It's Russain... by the people that sing Bratja.

Silly Billies.
oh.lix_tetrax on April 18th, 2006 05:20 am (UTC)
That makes sense ^_^. In a FullMetal Alchemist sort of way, which is to say it doesn't really. I believe you it's just that since they seem to be German Gypsies you'd think they'd be singing, if not their own language then a mixture of it and German.

But then Brajta is a Russian song which is the theme to a Japanese show whose characters' primary language is English. Lol :P

Not sure about the russian, but it might be. It's just that well the only russian i've heard is Bratja but Kelas sounds nothing like Bratja and and *points up at previous comments*

It isn't russian, believe me, i'm russian X3;

What kind of Roman is this? Romania? I have a friend who speaks Romania's language. *Note sure waht it's called.* It's like Spainish... I can ask her if she understand the song. ^___^

It'll be deffinantly harder to translate the song if it's in Indian. O_o *Makes note to research tomorrow!!*

As I recall, one of the previous times someone asked this question, someone else found the artist's site. No lyrics, but yes, it's Romani. I've lost the link though, sorry.

Romani, gypsy language.
There IS an instrumental, but upon trying it I found it doesn't work as a karaoke D:
Though I don't know Romani, I wrote out a phonetic thing a while ago. Lemme see if I can remember what I had...

Niji no wayeh grats, gaivahn
