Summary- Ed and Al were in Munich. They were at home thinking about where they came from when they were pulled through a strange portal. They immediately realized that they were where the gate dividing the two worlds had once resided. In its place was a newly constructed gate. The Elrics were pulled through this new gate, and placed directly in front of Winry Rockbells house. The story continues as the brothers awaken...
"I'm not quite sure, Al." Ed murmured, the shock of what had happened wearing off. First thing's first, I guess, Ed reasoned to himself. He got up and walked toward the door.
"Brother, wait." Al said. "What if this is a trap?"
"Only one way to find out," Ed answered. And he knocked on the door.
"Hold on, hold on." came a young woman's voice over the sound of a dog barking. "Geez, Den, you don't usually go nuts like this unless-" she froze as she opened the door. "Ed?"
"The one and only." came the sarcastic voice of the Fullmetal Alchemist.
Winry and Ed just stood there, staring at each other, when- BANG. "What the hell was that for?!" Ed exclaimed, his hand to the part of his face where Winry's wrench had made contact.
"Just like old times," Al mumbled to himself.
"Where in the world were you, shorty?!" Winry screamed at Ed.
"First of all, why does that matter? Second, Who the HELL are you calling short?" Ed yelled back in his usual hard-headed fashion.
"You leave for a few years, come back for about an hour, and leave for ANOTHER year! Of course it matters! And I'll call you short as much as I want!"
For one of the first times in his life, Ed was left speechless.

A few hours later, after a lot of yelling and more than a few bumps and bruises from being hit with a wrench, Winry found out everything that happened since the Elrics disappeared.
"So, how did you get back here?" Winry asked.
"We don't really know." Ed replied. "But we're going to have to try to find out."
"Oh, no you don't!" Winry exclaimed. "You just got back! You're staying right here!"
After trading glances withhis brother, Ed reluctantly nodded and smiled. "All right. We'll stay for at least a few days."

That night, when Ed and Al were in their beds, a scream ripped through the silence. Instanly, Ed was standing, his steel forearm alchemically transformed into a blade. Despite the panic rushing through his veins, Ed felt a sense of pride at being able to use alchemy so well after all that time. He immediately went back to focusing on the present matter and started running toward the source of the scream. He quickly realized that this scream had come from the workshop. He didn't even bother using the door and just transmuted a straight passage to the workshop. "What happened?" he yelled as he burst into the room. There were signs of a struggle all over. Tied to Winry's prized wrench, which was laying on the floor, was a note. Gently, Ed untied the note and pocketed the wrench. His eyes widened in surprise, horror, and unbridled fury as he read the note.
We know how you have returned and have taken your friend. You will recieve instructions on what you need to do in order to get her back.
Al rushed into the room at that instant. "What's going on?" he asked worriedly.
"Whoever brought us back," Ed said, his voice thick with rage, "took Winry."
