I know this post is not really FMA related, but may I give a suggestion? If I offend anyone I'm sorry and please feel free to delete this post. Anyway, you know ljs that have the friends only banner showing up on the main page of the site? Would it be possible to have that with some of the key rules and a few of the websites that are related to fm_alchemist in example fm_media_req? I'm just saying that possibly members may not read / forget the rules. Thanks for hearing me out.

It's fm_a related, though, and I think it's a good idea. New people might be more likely to read the rules that way.

Yey. Good. And thanks. It's just that I'm getting a bit annoyed with a few things that are happening.

At first when I read this, I didn't quite understand what you meant. But now I think I do. You mean having a first post that's always the first post, right? And having the rules linked there or something. Right? Or am I totally off?

If I have this right, I think it's a good idea. I know I haven't read the rules since I joined way back when and my memory isn't so great sometimes.

Yeah. Like that. So when the members come into the main page they can see the rules and not have to switch back from the user profile the main page, because there are a lot of things in the profile page. Yet some of it is good so chaos really doesn't bring this community down.

We had something similar to that with our old layout--there was a sidebar on the main page that had all of our rules listed in it. That didn't stop people from breaking the rules, though. Some people just don't take the time to read things like that before they join a community. But then, that's why we have mods--to enforce the rules and give friendly (or not-so-friendly, depending on the situation) reminders to people who break them.

This isn't a bad suggestion, but I don't think it'll work much better than the sidebar did. ^^;;;

You can't make sticky posts with communities.

can't you backdate it so it is like "2/22/22"?
Kyrareikah on March 22nd, 2006 01:32 am (UTC)
Yes, we can change the date, but we can't change the post's position. You can't make sticky posts with communities.

but i thought if you do that then the post will always be first. I know two people who did that. why won't it work on Comms? has anyone tried?
Kyrareikah on March 22nd, 2006 01:36 am (UTC)
Yes, it's been tried before on communities, no, it's never worked, you can't make sticky posts on communities.
