Sorry if this has been brought up before...
... but while searching the Chapters/Indigo/Giant Canadian Book Chain of Doom website, I stumbled on this little oddity. I've seen it listed before, but this is the first time I've seen a shot of the cover.

Now, I would have written it off as random garbage to waste more money on, but the cover image is the same as the first Perfect Guidebook. That leads me to ask: What gives? Is this a translation of the guidebook? The website mentions it as "Volume 1" and there were 2 guidebooks released, but Chapters doesn't have a perfect track record when it comes to such things. Same goes for the mention of "Anime" in the title. Your mileage may vary.

Any info on this release would be appreciated.

Thanks! It hasn't appeared up on Amazon.ca yet, and to be honest, I rarely look at the .com version. ;)

Maybe it is just a spinoff book for the anime. Dang. I was hoping for more manga material.

The cover itself does not mention the word 'anime'. Also, the image itself contains no characters that do not appear in both manga and anime. There's still hope it could be manga-based.

I don't know if this will help, but the Japanese 'Perfect Guidebook #1' has 186 pages, not including the dust jacket.

It probably changes when the translations are done. English is often much more wordy than Japanese, since we, you know, have grammar. ;B

I do hope it's the same book, though. Although I own the Japanese one, but my kanji-reading abilities are very minimal.

It is the perfect guidebook. They just changed the name to Profiles for the English release.

Since Viz has it, it could really only be about the manga. So yes, it's the first manga guide. I noticed it when I was browsing Amazon the other day, but figured everyone knew about it already XDDDD;;;;

Thanks! Like I said above, it hasn't popped up on Amazon.ca yet, so to suddenly see it on Chapters this morning made me go "Okay, what the heck is this and why haven't I been informed about it?" News seems to travel slower in the Great White North. :D
