Question.
Okay, possible strange question for those that may know...

I've heard that Al's birthday is in October and Ed's birthday is in January.
I was wondering if this is ever verified or mentioned anywhere and if their actual birthdates are known?

(Anyone else's birthdays would be appreciated, too.)

Thanks, if anyone knows.

I'm pretty sure that Arakawa-sensei said that she never gave the characters specific birthdays, and that the only thing she decided on is that Edo's birthday is in the winter :D

Ed's birthday is speculated to be between November and Feburary (the sudden snowstorm in episode 6 and the little amount of snow around)

No idea how Al's aprox. birthday came about.

I don't know what the seasons would be like there, but I know that here where I am, it's normal to get snow throughout March, and the odd freak snowstorm in April. Thus, if his climate was anything like mine, a March birthday could also make sense I think...

*shrugs*

sleepingsun is right, Arakawa hasn't given/considered birthdays. Though she said Ed's was in the winter.

However, if you want to make your own conclusion or guestimate this might help.

^-^ You rock my FMObsessed world. I love finding people that go into as much (if not more) detail than I do. Thanks a lot for sharing that with me, I'll have to bookmark it later.

[sidenote: Do you find it ironic that Roy is the name of the boy who drove the car, yet Roy does no driving, himself, in FMA?
at least, that I've seen - I haven't seen the whole show.
Yes, this was said mainly as a joke ^-^]

XD heh, all that extra fandom thought is fun (and I did that up a long time ago too, it's come in pretty handy).

LOL I never connected those two - the boy driver and Mustang's lack of driving (no, I don't believe he ever gets behind the wheel in the series). XD Irony shows up once again.

Hehe. XD
He does do plenty of driving in the manga though!

Ed's birthday (at least in the anime) has to be between Ocotober and February. The only two definite dates are February 1910 (when they attempted to resurrect their mother) and 3 October 1910; Ed is eleven at both these points in time.

Following on from that, Al's birthday has to be between Ed's birthday and February. His age is given as ten in February 1910, and Ed is eleven. But later in the series, after Ed's 16th birthday, he's asked how old he is, and he says he's 14. So his birthday is after Ed's.

(Manga-wise, I don't remember there being any such definite dates to work off/be restricted by. Or maybe I just haven't noticed. I've only read the manga once through.)

I'd personally put Ed's birthday between November 30 to December 17, making his astronomical zodiac sign Ophiuchus, the Serpent Bearer. Ophiuchus represents the mythical Greek healer Asclepius, who was killed by Zeus as "punishment for violating the natural order of the world by bringing the dead back to life". Asclepius' rod is also resembles (and is often confused with) the Caduceus, from which the Flamel symbol originates.

My sister angelbless worked out that Ed's birthday was around Febuary, but Al's is still debatable (although she originally put it at around October - November). She did tell me all this stuff as to how she figured it out, but I can't remember it fully.
