AN: This was written for my wonderful friend kitanabychoice as a gift, but I still wish all of you guys a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Ed felt Al’s warm body pressed against his and slipped his human arm around Al. The smaller body snuggled closer until his head was resting in the nape of Ed’s neck. The two were silent for a few more moments before Al finally spoke to his older brother.
“Brother, is this wrong?” His golden eyes met Ed’s identical ones and waited for an answer with worried eyes.
Ed ruffled his hair in a loving way and gave him a light kiss on the lips. He knew how Alphonse was and how fragile his feelings could be. He carefully thought over his words before replying.
“Al, there really isn’t anything wrong with brothers loving each other. But I guess I just never thought you and me-”
Ed realized after he said that, it had been the wrong thing to say, but before he could say something else Al pushed away from him and got out of the bed. He slammed the door shut behind himself and left Ed in complete darkness.
After a few more seconds, he got up and followed Alphonse out. He found his younger brother sitting on the far end of the couch pouting. Ed sat down on the other end and stared at the floor feeling somewhat guilty of how he had said what he did.
“Al I didn’t really mean it like that… What I meant was-” Once again he was cut off in mid-sentence except this time it was Al who did it.
“So what you’re saying is that it’s alright for any other pair of brothers to love each other except for us?” Al’s eyes had some tears around them but he was trying not to let them fall. “Do you not feel comfortable with me because I was in that armor for so long? Or is it just that all this time you’ve just been looking for relief for some sexual stress?”
Ed looked taken aback and tried to carefully think over what he wanted to say before he said the wrong thing again. “Al, I really didn’t mean it like that. It’s just at first, I never would’ve dreamed that you really loved me so much even after it was all my fault that you ended up in that armor in the first place.”
Al didn’t look angry anymore and now it was his turn to stare guiltily at the floor. The brothers didn’t say anything to each other for about another minute before Al slid across the couch and attempted to kiss Ed. When they got close there was a sudden shock between them and Al rubbed his lip.
“I hate static electricity…” Ed moved his hand out of the way and this time the two succeeded in actually kissing.
“I’m really sorry Al… And I think I know what’ll make you feel better.” Ed grinned and made Al look at him with slight worry.
“You didn’t steal anything, did you?”
Ed looked purely insulted and pinched Al on the cheek as a form of punishment. “No Al, you really think I would do that?”
Al didn’t say anything but just looked at his brother with regret for saying what he did. Now Ed considered them even since both of them had said the wrong thing at the wrong time. The older brother got up and walked into the small hallway and began rummaging around in the small closet.
He pulled out a gift that was messily stuffed into an unwrapped box and shoved it in front of Al. Alphonse took off the lid and stared at what was inside. There was a large blanket that was unbelievably soft and had light blue fuzz that just added to its comfort.
“I remember you saying how uncomfortable the sheets we have now were when we have sex, so I got this for you. Wanna try it?” Ed had no trace of a blush but Al was completely scarlet, but he wasn’t hesitant to take Ed’s hand and didn’t resist when he was led back to their room.
Once they were both back there, Ed immediately started tearing the old blanket off to throw it away. While he was busy with that, Al snuck over to the closet and quietly tried to get his gift out without making noise.
Luckily, he managed it to get it out without getting Ed’s attention. But then, once he was rid of the blanket he turned to face Al again and noticed the small box behind his back.
“What’s that?” Ed asked as Al gave up trying to hide it from him.
“It’s a gift I got for you… I really hope you like it.” He blushed and handed the intricately wrapped box over to his older brother.
The two sat down on the new blanket and Al smiled and loved how soft it felt. Edward had always had some sort of sixth sense for things like this and almost always knew what Al liked. All he could hope was that Ed liked what he had gotten for him as much as he liked this blanket.
He heard a small gasp and when he looked over at Ed he saw him looking at the pendent he had bought at a nearby store. The stone was crimson and the thin silver chain gleamed as Ed looked at it more closely.
“Al this is so beautiful… I really love it.” Al helped him put in on and then gave Ed a kiss which he gladly returned.
“Merry Christmas, brother.”
“Merry Christmas, Al.”
