The English Alchemist (Part IX)
Well, the FMA community has been thrown into its monthly chaos thanks to the latest manga chapter. And in the midst of this chaos, what better to restore order than a lesson from Izumi Curtis? Brace yourselves, everyone, and don't forget to don your protective gear before entering the classroom...

(Once again, here is a SPOILER WARNING! This book draws on the ENTIRE SERIES for its examples, which means it is chockablock with spoilers. You have been warned.)

And so, without further ado, I bring you, scanned and translated where necessary...the ninth installment of The English Alchemist!

I am a huge Izumi fan, and this really amused me, especially where they pointed out the "toilet sandals". (I thought I was the only one immature enough to see "W.C." and think "washcloset", i.e. the European term for the restroom.) And then there's such great things as "barf blood" and the obligatory "if she were your homeroom teacher"...yes, great chapter.

Yeah, they're actually Japanese-style toilet sandals. (Shoes kept in the bathroom and normally only worn there, to keep from tracking bathroom germs into the rest of the house--you step into them when you enter and slip out of them when you leave.) The WC, often written on toilet slippers, stands for Water Closet...

You truly learn something new every day. Actually, I may have heard something to that effect once in the past (my best friend was a foreign exchange student in Japan when she was in high school), but if she mentioned it, I have long forgotten it. So I guess you relearn something new every day. ^_^

*grins* Try living here. Sometimes it feels like I'm learning something new every minute.

Also, your Izumi icons make me exceedingly happy. XD

Thanks. ^_^ If you see any you like, feel free to take them. Just credit me if there's no credit, and credit whoever made them when there is a credit.

When Ed and Al get beaten, it's not domestic violence because it's for training purposes.

"Although she is the strongest housewife, we naturally want to protect her when we see her barf blood"

Oh yes.... Barfing blood is so subtle. XD

At Sigu and Izumi's shop, I hear February ninth is "Meat Day."

anyways, i'm excited for Armstrong's chapter! ^-^

Meat Day needs to be a national holiday! Put that on Roy's list of goals for his fuhrerdom, under the one about miniskirt uniforms. XD

Also, I totally bet that your icon has happened to Ed and his automail before in cold weather.
