Title: Memories
Rated: G
Pairing: Havoc/Winry
Spoilers: None

Havoc sighed, taking another drag from his cigarette as his coat fluttered in the brisk November wind. He'd just been subjected to several hours of sitting in a military meeting with Armstrong as his partner. The poor man didn't expect that he would regain his normal sense of eyesight for a week or more...either that, or the sparkles would be permanently stuck in his eyes. Watching the children and couples walk around the small park he stood in, he was reminded of his childhood.
Those were the days before he'd ever even begun to think of joining the military...days of leaf piles and woods camping, without a care in the world. Everything had changed, he mused, when the Colonel had come into his life. His days as a thoughtless kid were strong memories, which was why it hurt him so much when he looked at Edward and Alphonse. Those boys had their own childhood ripped from them, as if it meant nothing. And then there was their friend...
"Mister Havoc?" He looked up at the feminine voice calling his name. Winry Rockbell was standing nearby, offering a friendly smile. The lieutenant smiled back to her and waved as she walked towards him. "Are you on break?"
"Yeah...it's my lunch time, but I decided to take a walk instead."
"How long do you have until it ends?"
     "About forty-five minutes or so...why?"
"Well, I was wondering...if maybe, you'd like to come have lunch with me. My treat." She finished, her cheeks red by both the cold wind and her embarrassment. Havoc smiled slightly and nodded.
"That sounds just fine. What did you have in mind?"
Then again, childhood memories were just that. Memories. Things of the past, faint happiness to think back on when a person was in need of comfort. What was really important was the future...and who one could spend that future with. Oh well...that was a theory for another time, the man thought as the two walked down the street, hand in hand.
