...... Uhm... WTF?
Looking through the latest posts since I was on the computer last, I came across a post discussing how an alchemy book told how to make a cheese omelet... and I noticed something else a little odd about that book... picture's here.

Second paragraph down:

"Review: Alchemy and Herbalists is a full color 96 page perfect bound d20 sourcebook for DMs and players alike. Its cover depicts it as a woodsy tome with a leaf, leather, and wood motif. The pages are thick and durable. Border size is very good and text density is exceptional."

The paragraph after it is a continuation of the same review.

......

WTF?

So... Ed and Al rolled a 1 on their alchemy save that night or what?

I wondered about that, as well... for a genius, Hoho's grammar sucks.

Or "Cheese Omelet" is a euphamism for "Living Human." ::shrugg::

Ah, well, like Ed says "Alchemy originated in the kitchen and all Alchemists code their work".

So, I assume recipes are the most common type of alchemy code.

Actually, in another book (or maybe the same one, but it's definitely a different page), they repeat part of the two paragraphs. If you look at that screencap and this screencap, this part is exactly the same in both: "woodsy tome, with a leaf, leather, and wood motif. The pages are thick and durable. Border size is very good and text density is exeptional. Artwork is good throughout, and all in full color. Border art is very attractive and also includes section headers for easy navigation." XD And if you look closely in the second screencap, that paragraph repeats again on the other page in the book.

The bit below the first repeat looks like it came out of a Sims manual. X3

-falls over-

It looks like a D&D Player's Handbook, that's what it looks like. XD
What the hell do NPC's have to do with alchemy? -shakes head sadly-

I've noticed that sort of oddity with so many of the anime series. One computer babble in Gundam Wing seemed to be listing all the information about Adobe Photoshop files!

Not surprising that they'd just type in stuff just for filler. XD

I think they just typed "Alchemy" into Google and ctrl+c, ctrl+v'd random pages. Either that or Ed's secretly a roleplaying geek. Which could lead to some interesting fanfiction.

Also, one of the paragraphs ends without finishing the sentence. "The author"?

It should also be noted that pretty much every anime employs the use of random filler text in them, so it's not as if the animators are dumber than Arakawa or don't know what they're doing or anything, they're just doing what animators AND manga-ka do when they have to fill space with text.

The Japanese aren't the only ones who do this either. Americans have become quite fond of using katakana as filler text. I think people forget sometimes that they aren't reading something that was created for English-speaking fans. No one is meant to actually read that text, it's only there to take up space.

Not only that, but it looks as if they're cooking it on a "flying" pan...

That sounds exciting!
