Well, well ...
I just listened to the Song "Bratja" from the FmA-OST. And ... well. It was russian ôo.
Does somebody know why the hell this song is russian?
Don't misunderstand me, I like the song very much and I also like to listen to russian music in general. I was just ... a little bit ... confused Oo;.

(Btw: "Bratja" is russian and it means "Brother". I asked a russian classmate of mine today ^^;)

It seems to be a trend in anime lately. ^^; That's just what i've noticed.

Songs in other languages.
siliziumleben on March 23rd, 2004 10:03 am (UTC)
Well, yeah. I remember, I was thinking for hours about which language Yoko Kanno used in some of her Cowboy Bebop-Songs, 'til I read somewhere that it wasn't a language at all, but Miss Kanno had just ... invented this "language" T__T.

Kanno did use Russian in some of her work for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, though (at least the two opening songs). ;) So that works. Even then, her invented language was lovely to listen to, as is practically all her work...

And I love your username! XD Skeith is a bad-aaaaaass. Annoying little bastard in the games though.

I found skith a little easy in the games. Yay for Wavemaster!
Kiraceredonia on March 23rd, 2004 10:35 pm (UTC)
Yeah, he was easier than I expected...I've almost gotten part 3 halfway done and I've been playing less than a week. XD But he's still cool. Yay Twinblades! Sora~! XD
dotskeith on March 24th, 2004 11:14 am (UTC)

*nod* Yeah it's very much a "trend" for more "classical" or such songs to include very choir-like vocals that are in a foreign language. Yoko Kanno and Yuki Kajiura have a tendency to use Italian, German, English... I don't think French but I could be wrong... so I guess it was a matter of time till someone used Russian =P I think other composers might do the same but as of this moment my brain is dead from no sleep =P Some songs are just so much prettier in a different language... and I think that having a song in a language other than the norm or whatever adds to the mood and such...
zippleartwork on March 23rd, 2004 11:35 am (UTC)
Yoko Kanno does work in French, even if it's not sung by a choir. The lyrics/vocals for her French songs are by Gabriela Robin. The songs sung in French I can think of are "Fantasie Sign" (Carla Vallet) and "Wo Qui Non Coin" from Cowboy Bebop and "Cicle" from Wolf's Rain. There are probably more, but you know, I'm brain dead, too XD

Some songs are just so much prettier in a different language... and I think that having a song in a language other than the norm or whatever adds to the mood and such...

I guess this is why I listen to Japanese music all the time:x

Wolf's Rain! <3 There are songs in Portuguese in that. They're even composed in that traditional music style. Mmm.
siliziumleben on March 23rd, 2004 10:32 am (UTC)
Well, I have to say that I really didn't know that the use of other languages was that common in anime ... Latin, of course, but I was a bit suprised with this russian and stuff ... T_T

(i'm embarassed >_>;;)
Lunalunaneko on March 23rd, 2004 10:39 am (UTC)
Cool, it's on Soundtrack? Actually, "Bratja" means "Brothers" Not just ONE Brother, heh...Can't wait to get my hands on that song, so I can translate it this time.

ex_capriccio230 on March 23rd, 2004 10:50 am (UTC)
Oh, oh, are you planning on putting your translation up here? If you are, you're going to have one very grateful and very weepy fan(dom) worshiping your feet (icon!).
Lunalunaneko on March 23rd, 2004 11:25 am (UTC)
LOL! I don't mind doing that at all, just need to get my hands on that song first...If someone can put it up for downloads somewhere - that would work! :-)
siliziumleben on March 23rd, 2004 11:21 am (UTC)
