EdxWinry

Okay, I thought it's about time there's an Ed x Winry community out there, so I made one. As I've never worked with maintaining a community before, I'll probably need other maintainers to help out, especially in layout coding, since I've never bothered to layout my own LJ before. Anyone is free to join, and it's just a place to discuss Ed x Winry and post related goodies in there.

Community is here: ed_winry

Thanks for letting us know about the community! I was debating the same thing a month ago, but my friends talked me into fma_het instead since they wanted to also invite Liza Hawkeye/Roy Mustang, and Maes Hughes/Gracia, and to allow the possibility of Al/Winry (though most of us prefer Winry/Ed) With the large number of communities out there, are you interested in an invitation to help me manage the

Thanks for letting us know about the community! I was debating the same thing a month ago, but my friends talked me into <lj user=FMA_het> instead since they wanted to also invite Liza Hawkeye/Roy Mustang, and Maes Hughes/Gracia, and to allow the possibility of Al/Winry (though most of us prefer Winry/Ed) With the large number of communities out there, are you interested in an invitation to help me manage the <lj-user=FMA_het> one instead? I know, I'm not terribly happy with the name implying a favor for certain sexualities, but the truth is it's just the easiest way to summarize the pairings that we like in this series, since we just couldn't see any yaoi pairings that made sence.

I would ADORE any Ed/Winry content you posted there!!!

I would love to help manage the community, although I have no experience in that whatsoever. Nada. But if you think I could help in any way, I would love to. I'm less of a poster than a person who sees posts and go "SQUEE" shamelessly, but if I ever have any Ed/Winry material I'll be sure to crosspost!

Heh! Neither do I, really! My friends and I plotted making one and somehow *I* got picked to make it even though I'm still pretty new at LJ (notice amrk errors in my reply to your post >.<) But right now I think all FMA_het needs is plenty of CCONTENT to keep us occupied, and to have people reply to the posts a bit more ^__^

If you want a layout, I'd be willing to help. ^^ It's not terribly hard to make one, even one with a sidebar or whatever, if you know how.

Umm... what's wrong with already having fma_het? Isn't that enough for a small fandom? It might be a bit inconvenient having so many communities now, especially if the same thing is being crossposted to perhaps, 3 communities on the same time.

I'm in that same boat o_O I belong to both FMA communities, as well as fma_yaoi and fma_het... when things get crossposted, I see them A LOT O_O...

not to mention the flist is getting cluttered, but I don't have the heart to unfriend the communities.

FMA_het also features unusual het pairings -- but it's too early to declare any couples "traditional" or more than one "canon" (only canon couple is Hughes/Glasia). I'm only a few weeks into the fandom and I can already tell that I don't really like Winry/Al or Hawkeye with anyone by Roy, and those things have a legitamate reason to be posted on FMA_het. Going to individual pairing lists may be the only way to keep me from arguing with every single person on FMA_het ^_^;
Aimeefiredawn on March 17th, 2004 09:32 am (UTC)
Exactly >.> The Al x Winry fangirls scare me. I mean, I like them fine, and I like Al x Winry fine, but I'm just fearing the day I might have to argue a point over something with them. @_@
Cat Whocatwho on March 17th, 2004 09:57 am (UTC)
*nod* Especially since I *did* get some Al/Winry vibes very early on in the anime, so much to the point where I was indecisive over choosing a pairing until the anime Barry the Chop episode.

It's like the Fruits Basket fandom, where it is equally canon to ship for Kyou/Tohru or Yuki/Tohru. Enormous flamewars broke out on mainstream FB lists over those pairings, so much so that the fandom HAD to splinter before it self-destructed. (I'm firmly in the Yukiru camp, by the by.)

People who like pairings with only circumstantial canon backing tend to be more rabid about their ships than people who like pairings with solid canon backings. Right now both Ed/Winry and Al/Winry fall into the former category, since FMA is not a romance series.
Aimeefiredawn on March 17th, 2004 02:45 pm (UTC)
I can see how that would happen in the Furuba fandom. I lurk in that fandom and only keep up with the manga by myself and never discuss it with anyone else, because of that exact reason. I'm still sitting the fence, facing/leaning towards the Kyou side because of volume 13. You see exactly what I mean >.>
Cat Whocatwho on March 17th, 2004 03:35 pm (UTC)
That's why it's so great :D It wobbles. In volume ten, all the Yukiru fans were ecstatic. Then it shifted back to Kyouru. Then back to Yukiru. And now it's back to Kyouru again. She's an incredibly skilled writer and she just keeps dragging us along . . . we are her reader slaves. XD(Hmmm, reminds me, I need to swing by Books Japan and snag volume 13.)
Aimeefiredawn on March 17th, 2004 09:31 am (UTC)
Well :X For me, I'm really more for Ed x Winry than I am for everything else, and I find it rather hard to find information and discussions on JUST Ed and Winry.

Oh okay... I was thinking about practicality in communities...
Aimeefiredawn on March 17th, 2004 02:46 pm (UTC)
Yes, I see where you're coming from. I do get crosspostings about 4-5 times from every fandom on my friends page, and it gets fustrating. However, I started the community mostly with discussion in mind rather than tons and tons of fanmade goodies.
