Garbage song actually relating to FMA?
I've been listening to this song repeatedly for the past few days... I keep getting the feeling it'd be a good FMA song, although it's by Garbage. lol

Metal Heart

I wish I had a metal heart
I could cross the line
I wish that I was half as good
As you think I am

But now that we know for sure they're telling lies when they say
No one gets hurt and therefore nobody dies
You know it's hard to believe anything that you hear
They say the world is round

Wish I was as big as you
You'd have to tell the truth
I'd be nothing you could hurt
Nothing you could use

But now that we know for sure they're telling lies when they say
No one gets hurt and therefore nobody dies
You know it's hard to believe anything that you hear
They say the world is round
The world is round?

I want to be dependable, I want to be courageous and good
I want to be faithful so that I can be heroic and true
I want to be a friend you can rely on, you can lean on, and trust
I want to understand so I can forgive and be willing to love

I wish I wasn't flesh and blood
I would not be scared
Of bullets built with me in mind
For then I could be saved

My sweet lord take care of me for I think I'm done
Kiss my mother on her cheek and lay my burden down

But now that we know for sure they're telling lies when they say
No one gets hurt and therefore nobody dies
You know it's hard to believe anything that you hear
They say the world is round
The world is round

Okay, just look at the lyrics...

[SPOILER: Enlarge to view] "Kiss my mother on her cheek and lay my burden down" is just enough for me. >_>; Like episode 51 crap. [/SPOILER]

"But now that we know for sure they're telling lies when they say / No one gets hurt and therefore nobody dies" - Why yes, solved early in the title anyway. >3

"I wish I wasn't flesh and blood / I would not be scared / Of bullets built with me in mind / For then I could be saved" - I could definately see this one somewhere. >_>;

And much more. Rip it apart if you desire. >3

I want to hear your opinion though: Could this really be a good FMA song? <_>;; Answer it and I might post my little crack fic, "The Three Homunculi". (Just... imagine it. lol A G rated Homunculi story. lol)

(If this is a no-no, erase immediately.)

It might be possible and it also might be a conicidence. One question I have is when was this song written and realeased?

There are quite a few songs that I easily connect to FMA (Iron Maiden's 'Blood Brothers' leaps into my head immediatly because of the lyrics: When you think that we've used all our chances/and the chance to make everything right/keep on making the same old mistakes/makes untipping the balance so easy), but the song was actually written about the death of the bassist's father.

As far as I know the only definitive FMA song out there is "Still Nina" by D.C. Simpson, the author of Ozy and Millie.

"Still Nina" rocks my socks off still. >_>; *is playing it now actually* lol

This song's off of their latest album Bleed Like Me, so it was written fairly close to the present: probably some time earlier this year. The album itself was released about two months ago, so I guess there could be some tiny connection or it just runs along. lol

Hmm. I think it's simply a conincidence, although it is a very fitting song for the sins. Interesting lyrics though, thank you for pointing them out.

haha. i love your icon. >3

And yeah, coincidence, but a rather interesting one. That's what I get for listening to it at 2:43 in the morning. ^_~

Wish I was as big as you I laughed at this....It's sooo Ed and his stature complex! Other than that, This song vits VERY well! I like (correct me if the band name is wrong >.>u) MatchBox 20's Soul...it is SOOO Alphones i-i!
Catherineblackwine on August 5th, 2005 06:47 pm (UTC)
lol I liked the line you mentioned too. XD; I was like, "Roy'd get a kick out of that." lol

I need to listen to Soul then. >_> I'm interested now. lol

Probably just coincidence, but very fitting. Songs that are "just coincidence" can be just as fitting as one specifically written about the show, though. I think of Winry every time I hear "Fix You" off Coldplay's X&Y CD. ("Lights will guide you home . . .")
Catherine: hurtblackwine on August 5th, 2005 06:51 pm (UTC)
Yes indeedy... Then again, I'm a Garbage nut!fan and can make any connection of any song to any anime. lol It's sad. >_> "Butterfly Collector" would work for the Homunculi _a lot_.

Call me stupid, but I personally don't really see a connection. Wow, a song with similar themes makes it related to the series. There many songs that are like that...
Catherine: Envyblackwine on August 5th, 2005 06:49 pm (UTC)
lol I didn't know how to put it at the time, so I just put "related". XD; How's that for lazy. lol

ICON love! ^________________^

The song's kinda fitting in most ways, but I'm too braindead to look more into it. Thanks for sharing^^

Y'know what? I noticed that too. XD It reminds me a lot of FMA, but I don't think Garbage intended it that way or anything.
Catherine: Macross plusblackwine on August 5th, 2005 07:24 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I know. XD I really doubt they actually have heard about FMA... Then again, they have some pretty good tastes. X__X; I just like it when you can identify a song with your favourite kind of crack. >3
oddpaperdoll on August 6th, 2005 12:34 am (UTC)
yeah, probably a coincidence, but I identify stuff like that in songs I listen to as well. Like, Coldplay's "Fix You"?

"When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
When the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

High up above or down below
When you too in love to let it go
If you never try you'll never know
Just watch and learn

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.."

I think it's scarily accurate at least. and pretty. hah.

coincidences are abound everywhere, just like oddpaperdoll's icon. I remember that scene in Romeo and Juliet and now looking at your icon, I went "automail" in my mind.
... I'm such a dork.
Catherine: Lust Fanartblackwine on August 8th, 2005 10:21 pm (UTC)
lol Yeah. ^_^;

Geez, this'd be a fun thing to turn into a game. O_o *thinks about it* Anyone have an FMA forum? lol

I just downloaded and listened, you're right, it's very FMA! ^^; I likey.

And now I'm gonna go be a dork and download every other song mentioned in above comments, just to find some relevance XD
Catherine: homunculiblackwine on August 8th, 2005 10:22 pm (UTC)
It's not dorky - It's advaaaaaaaaaancceed. lol
