Another one of those newbie intros...
Hello, nice to meet all of you! ^_^

I just got into FMA recently, but I figured I'd say hi to everyone here and that I hope to contribute to this cool community... somehow. ^_^; I adore the anime and I've been trying to get my hands on the manga (I even went to Kinokuniya today just to get FMA but it was completely sold out! Argh! >_<). My appetite for Fullmetal Alchemist is insatiable already! :P

In any case, I noticed something interesting about episode 9...

At the end of the episode, when the story jumps 3 years ahead and Ed ends up chasing that rude driver across the desert, Al mentions that they're heading to the city of Rior(sp?).

I had to go back and check, but it seems to be the exact same city that the Elric Brothers arrived in after crossing the desert in episode 1. That means the story took a full circle to return to the present! Damn, that's so cool! XD

Full circle
Yup yup. ^_^

Ah, I noticed that! That's why Al and Ed were walking through the desert at the beginning of episode 1. The driver pissed off Ed so they lost their taxi. ^_^

Ah, poor taxi driver... didn't know he was insulting Ed to his face. XD

You know that even if the driver knew Ed was Ed, he'd have made some comment about his height that would've gotten him into trouble anyway =P

I find it interesting how the anime version is mixing the events up in regards to the manga... I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or not.

Re: lol
True, true. Although I bet rumours about Ed's touchiness about his height must be spreading as fast as the Fullmetal Alchemist name. XD

Ah, I like the darker atmosphere of the anime but I really miss the humour. I was looking forward to seeing the wind pressure scene on the train.

Re: lol
If it's true that the series will be 52 episodes, then I think they have no choice but to mix up & elaborate events for the sake of length. The other alternative is to show episodes as far as the manga goes and then start showing filler episodes for the rest - but that doesn't usually work out...

The full circle at the end of ep9, among other things, seems to be their way to keep the storyline tight & yet introduce new characters smoothly. I like how most of the flashback eps had such good pacing - most series can't pull that off as well, I think. ^^

Unfortunately, I still don't have the manga... so I can't figure out how the anime/manga measure up to eachother... -_-;;

Re: lol
Thanks. I read up to ch6 - and that pretty much follows eps 1-9 with a lot of extra stuff in the anime version, but it's not enough to satisfy me. ^_^;
