Anime Insider ALWAYS do this kind of thing... and they always seem to have Dan as the main character of EVERYTHING.... o_O

What boggles me is why they have someone younger (Dan) playing Ed, than some one older (Macauly) playing Al... Were they trying to play on the height thing?

All you really need is the voice. The person inside the suit doesn't matter when it comes to Al at this point. Just run out and get some six foot whatever stunt man to do all the moves and then have Johnathan Lipniski do the voice. Then you can go out and find the right cast to go with the characters. To me Ed shouldn't be any taller than what five foot six at best becasuse then it wrecks the short jokes. And I don't know how Vin Disel would feel about regrowing his hair and then dying some of it so he could be Scar. This is more or less one of those fanboi lists of who they think would be cool to be in a live action version if it ever happened. And granted if they can't think of anyone their default choice is going to be Daniel Radcliff.

You do realize that Wizard, the people who put out all the trading card game magazines, are the ones who do Anime Insider. They saw Animerica and thought it was cool so they just had to do an anime magazine to compete with it. So they are going to like only the most popular anime series out there and cater only to the main TCG buying audience (AKA people twelve and under). If this had come out Animerica or the American version of Newtype then I'd be scared because they should know better. But as magazines go Anime Insider's not as bad as one I saw back when I first started to read Animerica, Power Up or something along those lines. All I remember is the title had a huge exclamation point in it. That one was soely marketed to the eleven year olds with the what's cool now stuff on the cover and more live action tween show stuff than the Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura on the covers (which is why I picked those issues up). Viz deals with Animerica when it comes to anime magazines and as far as I know tends to only put TCG talk into Shonen Jump now.

What is with these article ppl? Are they trying to pull a Passion of the christ on us and make ppl jump to there death?!?!?!?!

Danny boy stands no chance of being Ed and on that note he probably couldn't lose his accent, fullblood british boys don't lose that so easy.

Vin D? No way, not the proper charecter for sure, Russell Crowe maybe....
Culkin?......just bring me death now plz.....
Whay does a ppl fledge movie seem like the right thing to do with FMA?
fingersinitaly: ot4furato on June 29th, 2005 04:20 am (UTC)
Not that I think Dan would be a good Ed, but why would Dan need to lose his accent? Ed is not from this world, and alter!Ed is even in London.

Those magazine people are so mainstream it hurts. Amanda Bynes? >_

Mm, Christian Bale as Roy...

The rest of those make my brain cry, though. Daniel Radcliffe as Ed amuses me, though.

I hate Daniel Radcliffe. T______T He makes me weep.

The only one that I like is Christian Bale as Roy. But only a little. :E
RW Grimmgrimm222001 on June 28th, 2005 01:06 pm (UTC)
Christian Bale is the only one I really like too. But, really I think Anime Insider picks actors based on physical appearance and the type of movies they've been in (sometimes).

I remember when they casted Hilary Duff and Askua (sp?) from Evangelion. THAT was sad...and they put Radcliffe as Shinji there too. :(

I was wondering why Al couldn't just be his voice actor. Culcan (sp?) looks beyond creepy.

Well, if you really kinda, relax your eyes, Christian Bale could be Roy, maybe...

The rest is just...yeesh...

sweet Jebus, anyone for Scar but Vin Diesel. I hate him, he pisses me off and he's the stereotypical action-movie-musclehead. How about a hispanic actor, just get him to dye his hair white and use a bit of makeup for the scar, and red contacts? Vin Diesel is PALE, dudes. Scar is seriously TANNED. It doesn't fit.

Daniel Radcliffe as Ed.. I seem to recall posting on the entry you linked that Hollywood would turn FMA into another Harry Potter. I AM PSYCHIC.

Macaulay Culkin? Could they possibly find anyone MORE ANNOYING? -_- I hated him in Home Alone, and I dont think he'd be a good choice for Al. Please, please, let Aaron do the voice, he does such a good job!

Haven't seen "Batman Begins", but eeh... ;_; get a hot Japanese guy to play Roy. Roy looks Asian, and besides, Japanese guys are HOT. ;____;

Why do they have to have big-name stars in all the roles? Why can't they have just some random dude? Throw a casting call at a con, for god's sake, you'll have no shortage of choices!

**hates on Anime Insider**
Chelseamaikan on June 28th, 2005 02:33 pm (UTC)

That whole would-be-cast is just so horrible.
fingersinitaly: ot4furato on June 29th, 2005 04:23 am (UTC)
Well, alter!Ed is a Londoner. XD

But seriously, I don't get why people are so worked up over Dan's accent. Ed is not American, he's not even from this world. And he originally speaks in Japanese. He can speak any English accent for that matter.

I would worry about Dan Radcliffe being tall, though.
