OMFG, I found these links the other day.

PsychCentral: Fullmetal Alchemist

ChemistryDaily: Fullmetal Alchemist

Surprising how FMA turns up everywhere, even scientific sites.

It's a wiki article, though... they probably just installed a pre-made database from wikipedia, and that article was in it already.

Yes, I know. But usually, mentions of anime/manga are rare for educational sites, aren't they? That's what I thought was quirky about those two sites.

I had fun flitting about the chemistry site, and found that FMA is there because a section of their article on Alchemy is about Alchemy in literature and the like. They also have a description of Harry Potter for the same reason. They're simply cataloguing all the various ways Alchemy and The philosopher's stone have been portrayed throughout history... all in all it's quite fascinating really.

It seems like alchemy is popping up all over the place recently. I've noticed it more because of my interest in FMA, but a LOT of video games and things make reference to alchemy and/or the Philosopher's Stone. It's interesting.

wow.. it really is. I had only skimmed it before, but as I just actually read the section on Alchemy... FMA seems (from this) to be better researched than I thought. Now I'm inspired to try and figure out how all of this fits in the show. I already see why Ishbal is where the stone was first made: The legend of it originates from Arabia apparently…

It's just a wikipedia feed. I doubt Chemistry daily needs to know about this or this.
