How was he to blame for how his mind worked?
It was like a black veil was over his eyes. He couldn’t comprehend any of his thoughts. He couldn’t help what he’d done. He stared at the body lying by his feet. The blood stained his hands, seeping in between his fingers. His eyes were blurred, his head spinning.
‘Why did you kill him? What right did you have to do that? Do you realize what you’ve done? You’ve killed the one you loved. He’s gone.’ The thoughts swirled around in his head. Banged against each other, swirled through his mind. The one he loved? Who was that? He was a homunculi, incapable of feeling. Besides, love was a stupid emotion. Who needed it? It was for the weak, and it was unattainable. No one knew what love was. No one could feel it. Who set the rules for it? Who knew?
He didn’t love anyone. He didn’t love, hate, or feel. It was unknown to one such as him. He didn’t want it. He didn’t need the emotions that brought people down, and allowed them to fall to weakness. What he had was fake. Wisps that flew through his mind, simple illusions of what emotions were. They weren’t important. Nothing was.
He looked down at the broken body on the floor. The blood dyed the golden hair red, seeping over a wounded face and body. They wouldn’t understand when they saw him.
He had death coming to him. It was his fault. The one standing over him squeezed his fist tightly. It wasn’t his fault, nothing was.
And as he stared down at the body of the one he ‘loved’, he felt the tears willing up in his eyes.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to end.
