Over Observation time...
Okay, so I got the second FMA DVD... (ack, I caved in... but I'm only watching in Japanese with subtitles..)

Episode 6, you see a screen-full of a report that Mustang is holding... it's supposed to be the profile for Shou Tucker...

But the 'bio' text reads this:

"Investing the working of nature is at thevery root of science and is one of the most significant of the intellectual endeavours of humankind. Britian was the centre of the 'Scientific Revolution' ~ the process whereby, by basing itself upon experiment and observation, science was established as a ligitimate feild of study. *something* order for science to progress new ideas need *covered by Taisa's thumb*... next and equally important stage was the d*covered by Taisa's thumb again* -imental apparatus and measuring *covered by subitles...d'oh*

I'm not gonna try the rest, cuz it's kinda hard to read behind the subtitles and Mustang's thumb....

LOL is that possibly filler text? Or is that something relevant? Kinda weird to toss in 'Britian' when, in truth, on that side of the Gate, there is no Britian... :o

Edit After finishing the last ep on the DVD, ep #8, when Edward is reading his letter from the Furher, there is more filler text past the relevant part... All this nonsense about 'false citrine' and naming all these colors as they apply to animals/birds...

LOL you guys might've looked at this *waaaaaaaaaaaaay* long ago back when this episode first aired... :P

Oh well ^^

Edit: LOL LOL the anime is full of engrish! XD I gotta go look into the D&D stuff in the first ep XD

Lock the post for spoilers ^.^;;;;;;;

This has come up before. It's just filler text. Like how in episdoe 3, the alchemy book Ed is looking at has D&D text in it ^.^;;;;;;;

Cut. That's what I meant to say. Cut. Damn not being able to edit comments >.

It has D&D text? Holy Christ our fandom is weird.
Marikaitou_marina on April 16th, 2005 08:18 pm (UTC)
It happens in most anime, actually. They just take random English text and shove it onto books, newspapers, documents, whatever, to take up space.
devils_devotion on April 16th, 2005 08:21 pm (UTC)
No, it's just...D&D. *ded of amused* I knew the part about filler text, but...

XD *rolls*

Could have been worse. Could have been newspaper reports about a murder on a little girl's book, like I've seen before XD

It's a review of the Alchemy and Herbalism book. It's not the actual text of the book, it's a review of the book of yet-unknown origin.

...Whoops. I are le stupid.
anax imperatoranax on April 16th, 2005 09:02 pm (UTC)
Naw, man, it's easy to mistake. :) Until you look real close at it, it's easy to think it's the text of the sourcebook itself.

Ack sorry, fixed it with a cut...

But.... it'll make noooooo sense until you get that far!!! TT_TT

I think they do that with all the written stuff in FMA. I was watching ep 26 and a note that Mustang got from Ed said sort of the same. It was probably from the same source since it also mentioned Britain and the Scientific Revolution. But it also mentioned a science museam.

I cracked up the first time I noticed that. The first sentence of the invoice note makes sense (please have HQ pay all of the bills), then the rest of it is gibberish about the "objects of special" from the contemporary collections of the Science Museum. It's great.
