A cry of one in desperate need.

Ahem. I come before you lovely people today with an extremely important question. (Okay, not so important, more of OH-MY-GOD-LET-ME-NOT-BE-ALONE-AND-DESPERATE cry.)

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies, gents and beans of all sizes:
A] Lived in Australia.
B] Lived in Queensland.
C] Are plannning on attending Supanova on the 9th and 10th of April (aka this Saturday and Sunday) at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
D] Considering cosplaying as a character from FMA.

Dear Someone-or-Another, may I not be alone! I don’t care if you get a piece of aluminium foil, stick it on your head with a piece of string and refer to yourself as Alphonse! I don’t care if you grab a potted-palm tree, stick a headband on it, whilst carting it around all day and calling it Envy. Hell, I don’t even care if you get your bathrobe and claim to be Edward. COME. COSPLAY. LET ME REVEL IN YOUR PRESENCE.

Yes-yes-yes, I know there is another one in Sydney later this year, but face it. You come here and there so much less pollution; we have BIG shopping centres; the tourists don’t try to get you drunk and drag you into coffee clubs, and more importantly, WE LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU IN WAYS THAT ARE BOTH ILLEGAL AND UNNATURAL. (Come on. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is just a bridge. We’ve all been on one. So it may be a little bigger, but you’re not going to climb the goddamn thing, are you?)

They are also premiering the first couple of episodes – subbed – in a lead up to the actual release of FMA sometime next week. Support your fandom! Stand up at the back of the hall and call out obscene things in references to Edward’s size and Roy’s flames! THEY MAY EVEN HAVE PLUSHIES.

Um. Yes. My point is to come along and FMA-cosplay. If you do decide to brave the unknown and come across an oddly tall Ed bolting around, screeching about costume-impracticalities due to the heat, come and say hello! I promise I’ll repress all urges to bite and scorn your family lineage. I’m really, really friendly, and we can do wonderful things in front of hundreds of people! (Personally, I’m hoping for another Ed. What’s better than Ed-on-Ed action?)

(Pleasepleaseplease. Please.)

I apologize if this is considered spam, but I was wondering if there were any Hawkeye colorbars somewhere out there? I've looked around and I haven't found any, but I just thought I would check anyway... :D

FMA now highest rated show on Adult Swim

Pretty cool, huh? And, note at the bottom of the article just how much cool stuff they're going to be bringing over/putting out merchandise-wise.

EDIT: Forgot to note, but the article also states that even now, before Adult Swim and Cartoon Network are splitting ratings-wise, FMA is among the highest rated shows for the whole network for the age groups 12-17, and also that the gender split is fairly even. Neat!

FMA Novels and artbook licensed

Guess what I found while skimming through this month’s Newtype USA…

“VIZ recently announced that it has licensed Hiromu Arakawa’s Fullmetal Alchemist manga. The first volume arrives in stores on May 3, but that’s not all. VIZ has also licensed the Fullmetal Alchemist novelizations, the first of which lands on shelves in the US this October, as well as a full-color collection called The Art of Fullmetal Alchemist, coming in November.

Oh yeah. XD Long-time lurker here. Finally posting something. Hi.

DVD annoyance

Okay, what's the story with that stupid edit to Ep 6? The DVD versions are supposed to be unedited, where is my Ed slamming his fist into his hand? Why is he still clapping his hands together in edited badness? These were supposed to be unedited, where is the unedited version?

Pensive Bones

(no subject)

Okay, so the other day I wrote to the people at Hot Topic about their product descriptions for the Fullmetal Alchemist t-shirts. I dunno, I felt like kinda just making them aware of the fandom and how their product summaries weren't technically correct for what symbols from the show on the t-shirts really meant and a lot of people I talked to about it agreed with me.

So, I sent them an email saying that where they said "schematic star circles" it would probably be more appropriate to put "alchemic arrays" and that fans of the series who would buy the shirts would be thinking of them as those and not as "schematic stars." And they had no idea what the "flamel" was and were just calling it a symbol of the show. So, I told them what it was and anyways... He got back to me today.

I don't have the originial email I sent because I sent it from the website. But, I do have the two emails he sent me back:

I got this one today at about 3:30 PM.

Collapse )

And I got this one a couple hours ago though I didn't read it until a few minutes ago.

Collapse )

Was I being annoying? Yes. But look! They edited it! And, you know, I am an ass... but I found this to be amusing and really good of them.

Random after thought... calling the flamel an actual flamel probably will confuse some of the dubbies... >>;

Here are the originial product descriptions:

"Alchemist schematic star logo (1) screened on the front in white, a large black logo (2) screened on the back and a small hit on the left sleeve."

"This black T-shirt has a dark but colorful front screen of Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric standing in front of a star schematic(1)."
