Looking for Alchemy Symbols
I've never posted here before but no this is not an introductory post. In my Chemistry class I am doing a project on Alchemy (and Merlin but I have yet to connect the two in this), SO what I am asking for is screenshots of any transmutation circles or anything that shows transmutation (as in a screenshot of showing the materials and then a screenshot of what it was turned into). Any help would be greatly loved. ^_^ (Also Kudos for anyone who can tell me what the hell Merlin has to do with Alchemy.) But besides that the project is actually enlightening. ^_^ There are some things in Alchemy the show doesn't go over.

Well you're in luck. I'll screencap as much as I can when I get home for you and just last night I came across a paragraph about alchemy in my History textbook. I posted it but in case you didn't see:

"Alchemy was a much favoured science in the Late Middle Ages. Alchemists had two aims: to change rather worthless metals such as lead into precious gold, and to find an "Elixer of life" that would make humans immortal. Alchemists were part philosopher, part scientist and part magician. They mixed and heated up substances in workshops that resembled modern day laboratories. Although the alchemists did not succeed in either of thier goals, they aquired knowledge that would lead to the development of chemistry and the preparation of drugs."

I love you? XD Thanks for the screenshots (when you get around to them). I actually could have taken them myself but I burn all my epsidoes on CDs and then proceed to delete them off my computer and sadly my friend is borrowing them from me (who I only see roughly every other weekend).

So what screenshots do you want? Any specifics or just Tansmutation circles.

Oh i really want transmutation circles, but I would like one that shows transmutation . . . o.O . . . XD I can't think of really any scenes in the anime off the top of my head that shows that . . . hmm . . .

I only have episodes 11+ because I have limited hard drive space and had to delete the others T_T but I did get this:

If you can think of anymore though, I'd be happy to screencap it for you...

Hmm . . . how about a screencap . . . of crap! I FORGOT! Ok a screencap of the room where Al and Ed tried to bring their mother back. I know they did some views of that room and I think they also did some views of Tucker's basement and it had transmutation circles all over the place (my memory might be lying to me here).

If you're looking for the human transmutation circle, that IS the right one.

Merlin is a connection I've never encountered, myself, but some of the symbols associated with him could cross over. At least if you take the Mary Stewart-Welsh-legend route and associate *Merlin* with the story of the red and white dragons (Pendragon=red dragon=Arthur; red dragon=Wales, white dragon=Britain). Red being a higher stage of the alchemical work than white, I can see where a connection might have been made for nationalist purposes.

Not that I've ever heard of any such thing, that was just rambling about some symbols that strike me as similar.

arete did a nice job with Roy's circle some while ago (http://www.livejournal.com/users/arete/99097.html).

*hands you a Kudos* Well never thought of making that connection before.
