Hello, newbie here.
I've read somewhere that the FMA anime will start deviating from manga somewhere around book 4, can this be confirmed? I've been spoiling myself on manga info all around FMA msg boards, I hope the anime isn't going to deviate from the manga too far, there's quite a bit of scenes that I'm dying to see in motion.

The manga is nowhere near the anime yet.

Actually, it's already nearing book four. Considering only six books are out, it'll catch up really soon.

^^; I noticed my mistake when I said "no where near" or maybe it's denial...;_; I don't want to have to WATCH vol. 4 now....*moans*

And yes, this is why I'm nervous about any changes, painful as vol 4 is, the pain is what makes it great, like ep 7, it's horrifying, but the horror makes a lasting impression.

I'd say this divergence has already happened, actually...v.5, among other things, has a woman-giving-birth scene that was borrowed for Alicia's birth (with the "Uma--" bit and all) And v.6 is almost entirely flashback, concerning Ed & Al training with their master, and then the failed resurrection and Roy coming, which we've already seen, but done rather differently than the manga (Hawkeye is there, for one thing). So it can't follow the manga exactly anyway. It might re-converge, however.

Am wondering how the show's going to end, since the manga doesn't seem that close to a finale and it's doubtful it'll get there before the anime...so will the anime make something up, or just go so far and stop? I've seen shows do both, not sure which I prefer, both ways have their advantages and problems...
