Ep 51 Questions.
It's not even a madcap theory, I just have a few questions about FMA 51.

1) What year does the final shot of Ed take place in? Does the show say how old he is?

2) So does Ed have working prosthetics or just a sandbag and a peg leg?

1) I assume it's 1921, the date that's given. And no, they don't say how old he is.

2) Ed obviously can move his right arm, he does so at the end of the ep. I think that he's trying to be careful with the automail, both because he lacks a handy mechanic to fix it, and it'd make me suspicious if they saw it.

About the automail...

The thing is, he doesn't have the same automail that he last left Winry's home with. It was damaged in the fight with Wrath and Sloth, and he used pieces of other metal to patch up both his arm and leg very rudimentarily. It could be that they malfunction more frequently now or something. Anyway, yeah.

See I never got that cause at the end of the episode on the train Ed has the old Automail. The one he made was just basically a hand that moved back and forth the fingers weren't seprate but he closes his hand into a fist on the train so I was really confused.

I also had my own thought that when Al saves him, he gets his original automail back because he is wearing a glove at the end and like I said the fingers on the automail he made were not separate.

I always just thought that that scene was symbolic rather than his old automail. Remember the first scene of the opening "Melissa"? :3

"Coming full circle" is a theme, I know it is. D:

Wasn't it suppoed to mean they would be together again? *sweat* this series confuses me to no end.

yes, the "old automail" scene is symbolic since Wrath tore off the hand and Ed pretty much blew off a lot of the remaining arm in the fight with Sloth. It's kinda silly to end a series without paying a tribute to the symbol of the whole series (i bet the fans would have thrown a hissy fit). =)
