Ok I have a question

What the bloody hell is Envy? I don't know if it is a boy or girl. I always thought it impersonated too many people to remember its gender or true form, but the long hair form it uses. Is it male or female? It sounds male but it looks female. I can't rely on the voice since Al and Ed are both played by women. Does anyone know?

This comes after me seeing a Lust/Envy DJ and they were she males.

Can I just say how much much I love Armstrong!!!!!! He has always been my fav FMA character.

Not entirely relevant to the subject, but interesting all the same: if you compare the Envy of episode 14 and the Envy of episode 50, there's a very distinct difference. By episode 50, his voice is deeper and rougher, his chest is broader, and his muscles are more clearly defined; obviously intended to be more masculine. In 14, the first time we see his Envy form, it's much slimmer, his voice is higher, and he's overall more androgynous.

I would say that the anime Envy underwent a very distinct metamorphasis from beginning to end to establish him as a male character in our minds. However, if you start out with the Envy of the beginning, as being closer to the manga Envy, then he really could go either way.

Myself, I had the crack theory towards the end of the anime that Envy's original form was Hohenheim's daughter. *hee*

Envy is very much a guy.

But he refers to that as his "kawaii form" so maybe he likes using that to feel all sexy-like. ^^;;

I really agree with the observation as to his changes from the beginning to the end.

In the end Envy is more violent and action oriented (pounding holes in the floor) definitely shows a more masculine streak.
