My fokes are the Typical "none intrested" when it comes to anime. they dont nesserally dislike it. they just Critize me for watching cartoon. All be it I have gotten them hooked on most of the Live action shows they watch they wount even give most anime A chance. I have tried and continually Failed

that really sucks...
i wish other peoples parents would atleast show some interest in what their spawn are watching
even if its just asking what the title is and what its about

Mom is more leniant about my anime obsession. Dad is pretty "grr, Japanese should rot in hell" most of the time (we're Chinese. WWII resentment, bad business relations, etc.)

Mom can recognize Edward (she organized all my chibi keychains. XD), Dad can remember the show is "Fullmetal SOMETHING" or "that alchemy thing". Haha.

my mom incourages my anime obsession O_o
so it confuses me a little when other people are like "arg! my parents hate anime!" because my mom is the one that got me hooked on it....

and you shouldnt let your dad around me... he might try to kill me o_O *is part japanese... and it shows very clearly that i am*

My parents are both semi into the anime thing. My mom loves the art and my dad is OBSESSED with J-pop. But neither of them really watch it.

For FMA, I tried getting my dad to watch the subs, but he wouldn't. With the dub, even though I never asked him to watch with me, he is somehow drawn to the room and watches with me, even making predictions and discussion and such. I hope I can make him a fan and get him to buy me merchandise. :D
Love me like you love the sunfish_twin on November 13th, 2004 11:21 pm (UTC)
well my mom has already baught me some random merchandise
and yaoi smut!

but it was kinda funny when we where watching it because she slowly gravitated to the TV, and then when it was over she looked disappointed that it ended
and then i reminded her that we have the sub on the computer and she said thatd wed watch it tomorrow X3

Your mommy is super cool. My parents wouldn't be caught dead cosplaying.

My Mom isn't really into anime per se, but isn't against it. She's a fan of Miyazaki movies and will watch Adult Swim with my bro and me occasionally (I actually caught her watching Rave Master today ^^). If there's something I think she'd like, she's up for giving it a try.

My daddy is the one who got me into anime when I was little. Mostly dramatic sci-fi, cyber-punk, or samurai stuff though. He's a big Ghost in the Shell fan so he's happy GitS:SAC is showing now. I haven't been able to sell him on FMA yet though...
Love me like you love the sunfish_twin on November 13th, 2004 11:53 pm (UTC)
ah
yea, i guess my mom is kinda special in the fact that she cosplays with us
she wants to loose some weight and cosplay as Leene from FFX-2 so badly XDD

when my step-dad was still living with us he hated anime...
but i hated him so his opinion didnt matter XP
Syldanasyldana on November 13th, 2004 11:32 pm (UTC)
My own parents are not into anime or FMA at all... but I'm a mom myself and have all but indoctrinated my 10 year old son. Hee hee! He had no chance at all, poor dear. He loves Al the most, while I am a die hard Ed fan.
Love me like you love the sunfish_twin on November 13th, 2004 11:55 pm (UTC)
lol
that is great XDD

i plan on having my kids be crack addicts to FMA (if i ever have kids...)

Ugh. My parents have a deep loathing for "cartoons".

But my dad? SO with the Speed Racer when I was younger.
Love me like you love the sunfish_twin on November 13th, 2004 11:56 pm (UTC)
i think most peoples parents watched Speed Racer when they where younger
even if they dont admit it (much like smoking pot... which my mom has some pretty funny stories of....)

I got my mom hooked on FMA now. She saw the Al plushie, and was totally spazzing over how cute he was...then she saw my Ed coat, and asked what that was...and well, she's up to episode 34 now XD;;
Love me like you love the sunfish_twin on November 13th, 2004 11:57 pm (UTC)
my mom knew about the Ed!coat before she even say the commercials for it XDD
and speaking of the Al plushies...
who on here is the one that makes them anyways?

**laughs** Hey now, we're not ALL 17 years old, you know... I'm a rabid otaku if there ever was one, have cosplayed, am NOT a 400-pound never-goes-out-of-her-computer-room wimp......... and am 43. I write fanfics, I read fanfics, I wish like hell I could draw, and I'm studying Japanese. So there, nyah. ^_____________^ And one of my friends, Morgan, is not only in her 50's, she has completely dragged her 16-year-old son into anime (GW, FMA and Naruto, mostly), she's a slasher. Just came back from YaoiCon, actually.

Some parents aren't totally antianime, though... My friends John & Linda are as much otaku as me, and they helped their 13-year-old daughter dress up as a Demon Japanese Schoolgirl for Halloween. Linda also helped her dye her hair bright blue a while back.......

My mom's cool with Japanese movies; she liked Mononoke Hime, and she really liked the Grudge, even though I had to explain some parts later on (like the differences between Shinto and Buddhism). I still haven't managed to get her into anime series yet, though.

My dad's completely against it; he's a huge WWII buff, and any time I bring anything Japanese up, he starts off on one of his tirades about WWII. I did point out to him recently that the US started it with Commodore Perry and the forced opening of ports, which shut him up in a hurry XD.

Saya Aensland: BWAHAHA!saya_aensland on November 14th, 2004 01:58 am (UTC)
My dad is really vaguely aware of my interests, he knows "Japanese animation" has something to do with it.

Mom's not much better, but she once took me to an anime seminar (I wouldn't have even known there was one if she hadn't told me) in Oulu, which is about 100 kilometres away from where I live. So, we can safely say she supports me. <3

Parents and people in general don't really know a lot about anime up here. There's only 4 anime shows on TV (Pokémon, Digimon, Beyblade and Dragonball Z), and manga is easily(ish) available only in the south, near the capital. When non-anime-fans hear "anime", they tend to think of "that Pokémon thing, hah!" (even though 80% of Finns my age have seen Ginga Nagareboshi Gin at some point of their lives). This makes the active anime fans a bit closeted in public. Teh suck.

pretty much no one admits they like anime cause of DBZ and Pokemon...
