Question to all Ed!cosplayers
When you guys bought a wig (for those of use how don't have blond hair), what color was it? I know it was blond (duh!) but what SHADE of blond was it? And for anyone who has any ideas about different hair shades, what shade IS Ed's hair anyway? Thanx!

Well... paint wise, I'd say his hair is a deep-yellow cadmium with either ochre or raw sienna for the dark shade.

For regular hair? I don't think this is a real color for normal hair... we're talking real deep yellow here... but hey, some people dye their hair blue, so who knows ^_~

This website sells unstyled wigs of all sorts of bizzare colors, including that painfully bright yellow that matches Sailor Moon, Naruto, and, of course, our dear Edward.

You can even commission a wig from this person, who will make the wig in the style you specify for a given price. :)

Fifi Mahony has some of the best wigs on the market, and although they're expensive, they're good for a high-quality cosplay; if you plan on doing Ed at more than one con, I definitely reccomend them.

The people there are also really cool and will do custom styling. I live near New Orleans, so I've watched them style wigs before. They did an awesome job of customizing my friend's Cloud wig. It was UNBELIEVABLE.

Well, from what I remember, wasn't Al's hair lighter than Ed's? Anyway...I wouldn't say Edward's hair is "yellow", rather a straw color. A step up from dirty blonde, a niiiice biiiig step down from platinum. I would say Winry's hair is platinum blonde.

...of course, I'm bleaching my hair as light as it'll go before I do my cosplay, simply because I am a white-hair whore, so I want it as light as possible. I'm more excited about having bangs again, really. >_>

I would also suggest getting a wig with a faux scalp, to make that part look extra spiff. That, and the hair fibers are usually a better quality when that's there (since it's more expensive). And if anyone can teach me the trick of braiding wigs, do tell. I have a $65 long burgundy wig I braided to be Aya Fujimiya and it looks like I spent $10 on it. -_-;;

Actually, Al had hair that was a shade or two darker than Ed's (I'm going by illustrations from the anime).

I would say that Ed's hair is closest to a rich ochre color. I don't know how helpful that will be in terms of looking for wigs (or what color/number system they use). Good luck with your cosplay!! ^__^

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!! I think I have a better idea of which color to buy. I'm a rather cheap cosplayer, so I think I might go for whatever best thing I can find for cheapest (if that makes any sense)
