Ame no Hi wa No Thank You

Hello everyone! Been a lurker for a while, but I've finally decided to come out of the shadows and try my hand at a translation. Well, my Japanese is limited, but I still have some knowledge. Feel free to correct ^^;

            Champagne Rain

            Sexy Lady

            A Kiss from your escort

ロイ:It’s Showtime

            A message of love

            In the moonlight

            It vanishes in an instant

リザ:Rainy days are pleasant, but no thank you

ロイ:Oh oh…such a stupid lonely man

リザ: But that kind of soul is charming

ロイ: A raindrop penetrates my eye

            Now embrace these arms

I want to set you on fire

リザ:Tonight at 121

            I’m a little shy

            A star looks to fall

ロイ:Tomorrow morning at 112

            From loneliness

            We’ll both check out

リザ:Dripping wet, I want to watch a puppy3

ロイ:Oh oh…I know it’s incompetent

リザ:But power is not always good

ロイ:I wipe a raindrop from my cheek

リザ:Now I want to hold you tight

            Estrange the cynic4 siren

リザ:Rainy days are pleasant, but no thank you

ロイ:Oh oh… stupid lonely man

リザ:But that kind of soul is charming

ロイ:A raindrop penetrates my eye

ロイ&リザ:Now embrace these arms

I want to set you on fire

1 I’m assuming they’re possibly on military time? Seems fitting ;) 24 hours = 12 am

2 Same here. 35 hours = 11am.

3 What?! Probably just translating wrong, or maybe it’s an idiom…?

4 Also listed as sarcastic or satirical

Eh? I know a lot of it doesn't make sense...help is wonderful :)

The puppy line makes sense if it's assumed to be refereing to Black Hayate... >_>

Actually, that line should be translated as "LIKE a puppy" rather than "watch a puppy," since the mitai doesn't have the "mi" kanji with it. So it's more along the lines of "Dripping wet(or soaking wet), you're like a puppy without skill (saenai is "without skill," which got left out of the line above)," which makes sense, because the next line Roy says "I know, I'm useless"

Ah, okay :) I realized like 5 minutes after I posted this that I forgot to put in the "without skill" line, but yes, that makes much more sense ^_^

Roi: I want to set you on fire.

Somehow... it fits to a creepy point. Why exactly Roy wants to set Hawkeye on fire is beyond me... possibly for turning him down >.>;;

Um, I think he means figuratively. ^^;; Like, uh, passion-wise. Which is probably why they both say it at the end.

The whole thing is kinda smarmy when I look at the lyrics, but that just makes it more amusing. ^_^
